Ian Holloway, as usual, was fantastic to listen to in his post match interview with BBC 5 Live after Blackpool's entertaining 5-3 defeat at Everton.

Holloway said that he needs to 'look at himself in the mirror' after he decided to go defensive and put 9 men behind the ball when Blackpool were 3-2 up. He said he was totally wrong to do so, the subsequent formation was 'hideous' and he's apologised to all the players, in particular DJ Campbell for his decisions!

Great to see an honest manager with such great humility and giving criticism toward his own decisions rather than trying to pass blame onto officials or players.

Garbage again from you, he is doing brilliant with very little money and a less than great squad, he is doing the club proud on and off the pitch.

Problem with Blackpool is that whilst they're good on the eye, can attack and score... they have no real steel and solidity at the back which is now starting to cost them.

They needed a rough, rugged centre half and solid defensive midfielder in January IMO.. but instead he signed three strikers I think.

sorry party but disagree with you there, holloway has had peanuts to assemble that squad and they are a lot better on the eye than we have ever been under and if they had a jonson or dann in defence they would be one hell of a team, they are also getting raving reviews from everyone in the football world ,its only a few on here who thinks he is carp and its those few who will back in everything he does

Bryan i suggest you cut out the childish names. otherwise you may find your account suspended.

Totally agree...

His substitutions in particular are terrible...

When we won at Blackpool they were causing us all sorts of problems with their pace on the wings, he then takes off the wingers and brings on Ormerod and Euell, we then regain control of the game and go on to win it...

He made 2 substitutions yesterday, 2 minutes later Everton scored and went on to win comfortably..

And I've never known a manager talk for so long and say so little, he rambles on and on after every game about nothing...

Also where was his resignation after Blackpool got fined??

Hopefully Blackpool get releagted and we can have an end to this Ian Holloway circus...

I thought I was alone in my dislike for him - his persona comes across as an act to me and very insincere

agree with all 3 of these comments.

i used to like him but this seasonm, after hearing him week in week out, it's clear that the whole thing is an act.

he is way out of his depth as proved by him throwing his toys out the pram when bigger teams started to circle round his players.

I stand by my claim that i've been stating all season that they will be relegated.

I totally agree with you Will.

He is a breath of fresh air, from the po-faced, bland management-speak we have to put up with. He expresses self-criticism ( the same as McLeish does - but more quickly :D ) and his turn of phrase is a journalist bonanza.

However.

In terms of managing - with however a little squad - huge gaps. Huge naivety. Huge ignorance.

I hope they stay up, rather them than some other clubs who bore me to tears. But, facts is stats. And after Hull's blazing away from August-January - from then on they collapsed and only just avoided relegation.

Blackpool are doing exactly the same, but did n't get far enough up the table, like Hull, to protect themselves when the downward spiral started.
