The total cost will be around 90m to make the conversions. £45m comes from Newham Council (one of the most deprived boroughs in the country) and the rest from the Olympic Funding committee (ie our money). So West Ham get a brand new stadium for nothing and Sullivan and the Gold brothers (both worth around £500m each) don't put in a penny. < <

West Ham won't own the ground though. They'll have to pay rent to the council and pay for the maintenance. However, I think they should be made to pay for the full cost of the conversions that they want to make to turn it into a football stadium as well.

Man City paid for the adjustments they made to the City of Manchester Stadium by using the money from the sale of Maine Road. However, we all know that Gold & Sullivan wouldn't stump up their childrens' inheritance to turn the bottom tier into a a sliding stand, that can slide in and out for athletics and football.

So in effect, West Ham fans will be a long, long away from the pitch and will be watching Championship football being played on it!

they wont be a long way from the pitch though. the furthest seat from the pitch will be approximatly 35 yards nearer than the furthest seat from the pitch at wembley. now if someone offers you a seat on the back row at wembley for the league cup final will you turn it down because its too far away.
take the animosity out of things for gods sake, its a great move for west ham and their supporters, it will be much more comfortable, much easier to get to and have much better facilities, as for being in the championship they will still have a better support than blues and albion if we both stay up in the premier.
would you rather it just be empty and house an athletics meeting about every 3 months.
again when blues play west ham there wont it be exciting to go to a new ground.
