The table now makes for great reading.

A win (and goal difference) off eighth spot!

So an 8-0 victory against newcastle is on the cards then. 6 days ago we could have gone bottom of the league and now were talking a week later about possibly being in the top 10 what a crazy flippin league, with our home form and newcastle's inability to win away from home it's looking good, Obafami to score a hatrick

Crazy times, not being negative but we have to keep our feet on the ground.

Though we're above the Villa with 2 games in hand.

Its amazing how 2 weeks can define a season.

We lose against West Ham we could be at panic stations, instead we're talking about top 10.

I want us to get this game in hand on tuesday out the way so we can truly see where we should be. Although we are 14th, we can't take the foot off the gas.

This is turning into a really, really good season.

This is what I was on about with our game in hands and the league not being so bad especially with it being so open.

You can say that the moaners a few weeks ago were fickle or stupid or whatever you like, but as I was calling for back then, we've gone to a more attacking 4-4-2 and our season has turned around!

Players who we've had all season are now making the difference, so it's not just the effect of Bentley coming into the team that has improved us - it's because McLeish has changed tack for the better, as per what most of us were calling for!

Yes, though I think the reason we've been able to play 4-4-2 is that we now have the players to do that formation justice. I think McLeish was playing to our players strengths with 4-5-1. Now with Bentley on the left and Larrson on the right we are looking more likely to get the service to strikers.
Ironically last weeks win against West Ham came about due to a switch from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1.

^^^^^^^^^ this :applause: :applause:

Zigic has been here all season ,but anyone would struggle to score sitting on the Bench watching Jerome run himself into the ground in a 4-5-1 , :silence:

If we had ditched the negative 4-5-1 sooner we could have been top 6 now :blues:

Mate you are picking your teams and advice as though it was fantasy football. Great attacking 4-4-2 if it comes off but between November and January we were playing top 6 sides. Chelsea, Totenham, Arsenal, ManU side that can really hurt you. We have amassed a good set of results against these teams which has given us a good platform to mount a campaign.

We have been playing 4-4-2 against lesser sides and done okay. We played 4-5-1 away to West Ham in the Carling cup which was wise we wanted to keep things tight as we had a second leg to go through.

If we had played 4-4-2 against top 6 sides it might have worked if a forwards had struck form If they didnt then it made life all the more easier for the oppositions very strong forwards. If we had embarked on a risky strategy and it had not come off we could have easily have become stranded in the bottom 3 or relegated by christmas. We could not risk this we had to keep it tight.

You guys keeps carping on about 4-4-2. No one has ever said 4-4-2 would not or never ever be used certainly not McLeish. It's just about using it at the right time and amounting the best and wisest campaign we can. He has also done this on a pittance compared to Vile.

McLeish has kept his head when all about him were losing theirs and he is the best manager we have had in the past 40 years. I welcome your opinion and appreciate you want to see exciting football being played.

But surely you can see that doing the right things, playing with discipline and to our strengths with excellent leadership is paying dividends.

We are seeing the value of all the draws now - Wolves, WBA Blackpool and Vile have all won more games than we have, but we are above them all with a vastly superior goal difference.

We'd have to rack up some goals , mate.....8 or more I believe

A more likely win (1-0, 2-0 , 2-1, 3-1 whatever) would see us to 10th on Tuesday night

Top Half

Come on Blues

I am not convinced that 4-4-2 has served us better than 4-5-1. It seems to me that in the last few weeks we have stepped up the tempo in the 2nd half of the game and this has produced the results. In the first half we are often slow and make so many square or back passes that the opposition defence has time to organize and get men back. When we play faster we play better.

Spot on 4-4-2 and look at the difference, pressure off of the defence and we're scoring goals.

Good times.
