Martins - Didn't see too much of the ball, nice flick tho - 7 Jerome - Quality chip back into the box, well done son - 10 Zigic - Right place right time again well done son - 8 Larsson - Brilliant charging forward with the ball, was unlucky not to score - 9 Bentley - Needs to know how to release the ball, basic stuff - 6 Gardner - Good ball control never charged forward as much though - 7 Ferguson - Not one of his best games, a few sloppy passes - 6 Carr - Charging forward still at his age done well in that respect however couldn't get back - 8 Jiranek - little bit sloppy at the start got better through the game - 8 Johnson - pretty solid again well done son - 10 Ridgewell - Good down the wing again - 8 Foster - Flawless performance - 10 Stoke - played pretty well and were solid throughout the match however they are complete and utter Wa***rs McLeish - set us up pretty well again, I though Zigic should have come off though he was getting put out the game by the stoke defenders, maybe I was wrong Mark Halsey - Terrible referee'ing. |

Foster 7 some poor kicking at times but solid on crosses never really tested that i remember? Carr 8 excellent again capt marvel at times Johnson 7 did well mr consistent Ridgewell 7 left ball sometimes but still solid Jiranek 7 this bloke is excellent at reading the game, strong and good with the ball Larsson 9* Motm IMO best he has played for a few months, skinned the full back loads in the first half :applause: Ferguson 7 Mr Dependable few wayward passes but commands Midfield Gardner 7 put in a shift again 2nd half gave ball away to much Bentley 6 had to beat same player twice too many times for me, could have crossed quicker at times Zigic 7 First half was a bit off the pace never won much, 2nd half came into game more and got the winner again Martins 7 looked lively 1st half didn't get much service at times but done well Jerome 9 This is when CJ is good, coming on and scaring defences to death with pace, also today looked much better on the ball and took players on, im not normally his biggest fan, but by God if he played like that more often, i'd eat humble pie well done CJ :applause: Helsey woeful, Stoke without throws and set peices would sink like a stone. |

As a registered member of the anti CJ brigage...can I start my listing with; Jerome 9 (ouch...that hurt) Foster 6 Kicking and distribution was woeful Carr 9 he was my MOM RJ & MJ 8 a piece...they got hammered physically today but hung in there and were both really strong :applause: Ridgy 7 Going forward...bonza...but got caught forward! Larson 7 welcome back Seb! BF 6 erm...bad day at the office for our playmaker CG 6 Suffered because BF was off! Bentley 6 He's a bit scary defensively...but he brings qulaity OM 6 Good start to his time at blues NZ 7 Maybe a bit more aggression! :applause: for AMc today...brave decisions... It was a really tough game against a very negative Stoke team who seemed detemined to kill the game...well done Blues! |

Lets look at the evidence, Eck is in a win-win situation as a manager, all the squad want to play and prove they can play at a cup final at wembley. Seb has a kick up the arris cos David Bentley arrived. Jerome has a kick up the arris cos Martins arrives. The newcastle game "COULD" see our biggest win this season .........we could be Blues and also possibly lose a game before the final... Whatever atm regarding matches, everyone bar the players who arent picked are in a positive situation. :dancer: |

You can knock 2 points off all these posts if Zig had not scored in the last seconds, poor performance and only and only a top 7 from me for jerome, all the rest 6 or lower. |

"If" Zigic didnt score. "If" we weren't above the Villa. Bobby, if you're not a Villa fan you must be the most depressed man i've ever heard about. 90 minutes in a game, Stoke played for 89, we played for 90, we won. Get in. |

Foster - 8 - never tested Carr - 7 - several great runs, solid game Jiranek - 9 - solid Johnson - 9 - as per Jira Ridgewell - 7.5 - put some useful balls into the box Larsson - 9 - great game! His performance was outstanding, running at defenders, great delivery, excellent defending and showed passion Ferguson - 5 - bad day at work, conceded sloppy passes Gardner - 5 - same as Fergie Bentley - 7 - so dangerous running with the ball, defenders can't touch him. Over played the ball too many times today but his class shone through Zigic - 7 - didn't influence the game until his goal due to a lack or service and I think he could have involved himself more, but he did it again, good positioning Martins - 6 - showed determination and some neat touches, had no support and went off as we were ascending... Shame Jerome - 9 - WOW. Could you play like that every week and sign another new deal please? That performance missed nothing - raw pace, power, skill, footballing intelligence and determination. Immense Cam-eo (pun intended) Great result against the basketball team. Showed we're better in every department |

I think some of you miss the MASSIVE impact Bentley has on the games. He is able to bring the ball from our half in to the danger zone when everyone else would hoof it. It changes the way the game is flowing. No one else we have can do that. Jerome came on and lost the ball twice in good positions, set up a chance for Johnson and did really well for the goal. Not sure why that gives him 9s and 10s, but with all the stick he gets (some of it rightly IMO) I'll let him get the plaudits for this. Nice to see Larsson running with the ball, what a difference!! Ridge and RJ must stop hoofing the ball. It just comes back again. |

Right, here we go… Foster – 9 – MOTM – David James once said that “Be wary of keepers that keep making fingertip saves. Before you even consider diving, there’s organisation and positioning to sort out. Diving to make saves should be a last resort”. Foster organised his defence at the corners and long throw-ins, and Stoke’s shots from distance, which weren’t bad, were saved with ease. He made it all look very simple. Carr – 7 – This guy’s engine is incredible. Did his usual stint and linked up nicely with Larsson. Jiranek – 8 – I like this fellow. He’s very clever and when it became clear that he wasn’t winning as many headers against Kenwyne Jones as he should, he started letting Jones take a touch and then tackling him round the side. He did get booked for a tug on Jones when beaten for pace though. Johnson – 8 – Dealt with Carew pretty well for the most part. Fluffed his big moment on the edge of the area when he had a shot on goal. Ridgewell – 7 – Not bad at all. Not the same chemistry with Bentley that Carr had with Larsson, but kept Pennant reasonably quiet. Larsson – 8 – Bentley’s arrival has kiven him the kick up the backside that he needed. Knew when to use Carr on the overlap, and when he should cut inside which gave him a good chance that went a foot wide. Ferguson – 7 – Solid enough from Barry, but didn’t provide any kind of cutting edge and spark. Pretty much neutralised by Stoke’s central midfield and centre-halves, who were excellent. Gardner – 6 – Like Barry, but about three or four times in the game a collective groan sounded around the ground when he gave the ball away in midfield. Bentley – 8 – Very lively in the first half and looked like Blues’ best chance of a goal. Faded in the second half, although is was his shot that Begovic couldn’t handle and made the goal. Zigic – 7 – Had a quiet game due to Huth and Shawcross’ aeriel prowess, and again had supporters frustrated with his lack of aggression, and I only counted two or three times when he found Martins with a header. But in the 93rd minute, if a ball’s floating across the goal line, who would you want there? You lost marks if you said Chucho. Martins – 6 – Lively, and showed a few nice touches, but marked out of the game and combined with a lack of killer passes from midfield, made him a touch anonymous. Started to come deeper looking for the ball as the game went on, which isolated Zigic more. Sub: Jerome – Told us what we already know. He’s big, he’s strong and he’s probably not much fun to deal with when you’re a tired defender and he’s fresh. When Begovic fumbled Bentley’s shot, he didn’t shoot, he calmly took the ball away from the goal, turned and put a great ball in across goal. If you’re that bloke in the Tilton that sings “If I Only Had A Brain” at him, look in the mirror. |

Foster 6, (it's about time someone had a word about his truly horrendous kicking) Carr 6.5 (very dodgy start but improved as the game went on) Ridge 6 some good stuff, some bad) RJ 7 (excellent in defence but too much hoofing) Jiranek 7 (I thought this guy was Martin Taylor Mk 2 when I first saw him but he's getting better) Fergie 5.5 (would have been 4 but for one gorgeous through ball to Carr- the rest was a bit rough though) Gardner 5.5 (not much cop) Larsson 7 (seems to be playing better lately) Bentley 7 (I hope we can sign this chap permanantly) Zigic 6 (two points for his thundering header from a yard out) Martins 6 (showed some good touches and he can trap a ball which is unusual for a striker at St Andrews these days) Jerome 7 ( great effort as ever and a rare assist. |

Without getting carried away with what was quite an average performance, even taking in to account the awesome feeling of a last minute goal .... Foster - 9 Carr - 8 Jiranek - 7 Johnson - 8 Ridgwell - 7 Larsson - 7 Gardner - 6 Ferguson - 7 Bentley - 7 Zigic - 6 (although bumped up to 7 because he scored!) Martins - 6 SUBS: Jerome - 8 |
