I was so pleased to see this him Ref again, but he did have a bad day today, I hate watching games against Stoke, they are so frustrating and just play dire football, but he made it 10 times worse today, just thought he had a vendetta against us.
One of the worse displays by a ref I have seen.
Respect him for his personal life, not saying this is the reason, but the illness he had does cast a shadow over your life and some days you can't help it not effect your performance in your profesional life even if you like to think it dosn't.

I see why they call him a long throw specialist. It takes him so long to take the throw. Ironic that their time wasting backfired on them!

Changed my opinion of him yesterday. He was truly awful, spent his time making up for the previous bad decision. Stoke players sussed him and made him look a fool with some decisions. Sadly. he's not a premier league referee anymore :(

This is what gets to me most about Stoke. They complain about time wasting the same as any other team does when behind but Delap takes an eternity to take his throws, particularly at the Britannia when he has to towell dry the blooming thing :banghead:

Refs need to do something about that at the Britainnia.

Mark Halsey is without a shadow of a doubt a fine referee, and as a man a fine roll model for all the poor folk that have to go through illness like him.
Just had a difficult job to do today and even trying to be neutral did get a fair few calls wrong. Still have him as ref rather that some of the donkeys we get.KRO

Refs need to do something about that at the Britainnia.

He has a towel SEWN into the chest of his away day shirts.

It as an absolute joke that he is allowed to do that!

But on the referee side of things....

I think fair play to the guy, he has fought off a life threatening disease and it is inspirational to the world that he can come back and compete at the top level of his profession.

What i disagree with is people letting him get away with a poor performance because of it.

He is a professional at the end of the day and he had a very bad day. It cant be ignored due his previous illness's.

It was a dire performance from a fans point of view.

I have always liked Mark Halsey as a ref even befre he was struck down with Cancer and I for one am glad to see that he has beaten that disease and is stiull able to ref in the top flight.

Yesterday against Stoke however has got to be one of the most shocking games he as ever officiated in...... Thankfully we got the three points needed thats all I can say.

As for Mark Halsey, yesterday was simply a bad day at the office for him....

I look forward to the next game he officiates at Blues. I am sure this will have been a one off, as he has always impressed me as an official... I certainly hope so anyway, as there aren't many good refs about any more... Lee Probert today, for example! That free kick he gave to Bolton was unbelievable!

I am a huge fan of Mark Halsey. Definitely one of my favourite referees in the Prem and I have huge respect for him after everything he has been through.

BUT, he was dire today. Absolutely terrible performance - missed a hell of a lot (penalties, pushing, elbow in the face on Jiranek by Carew...), used the advantage rule very strangely (ie often not signalling advantage until way after the incidents) and, most riling of all, falling for constant head injuries by the Stoke players, conveniently when we were on the ball and on the attack. The most galling thing about one of those incidents was when the little turd Walters kicked it right in to the corner after we had posession - should have booked him for unsporting behaviour instantly.

In the end it was by far the most satisfying result of the season for me. Stoke are so anti-football and rough as a team that I am delighted we did them.

KRO

Like many others, I'd rate him as one of the best usually! But today he was awful... Got pretty much everything wrong! Oh well 3 points!

He didn't keep up with play.

Now is this fitness, health ?

We had a guy a few weeks ago who hardly left the centre circle..

Refs are supposed to rub diagonally, from corner flag to coner flag. This was supposed to keep them out of the clutter. I've not seen a ref do that for ages,

Mark Halsey didn't, he hardly every went into a corner quadrant.
Another up and down the middle ref. Whicj I thought got you marked down
