Havent seen anyone talking about it.. But I thought he was excellent when he came on.. The first time he touched the ball he took it past 2 Stoke players and always looked to go direct and cause trouble.. It's funny how everybody bashes him every week, but too often, he doesnt get praised. It was his pure desire to get the ball, which set up the winner. Well done CJ, changed the game! |

Its the first time in years that he's had real competition for his place, so he may be trying harder to get it back. |

Hold on - give us a chance!!!!! jerome's shooting was very off again but played well and certainly changed the game with the 13 or so minutes he had - set-up the goal brilliantly .... |

Came on and looked like he wanted to do something and looked up for it. If Jerome is up for it, and is confident, he can be some player, if you iron out the creases so to speak. Fair play to him today, didnt let his head drop when he was on the bench or anything, came on, and played a massive part in a big 3 points. |

He has been doing it all by himself up front playing 4-5-1 and hasnt been given the credit or support needed. He needs and deserves a rest. The competition for places is also healthy. :blues: |

Love the way Jerome approaches the game. Regardless of his limitations as a player, he always gives his all, doesn't let his head go down when things don't go his way and the fans get on his back, and loves being a Blues player. 25 mins off the bench running at tired defences has always been the role he's made for in the Premiership. He can be a real asset for us. |

Well done, Cameron. Drogba and Tevez would take pride in a performance like that. Top class. |

Still the most important striker at the club... Martins showed a few nice touches and probably needs games before we see the best of him but Jerome did more in the short time he was on the pitch than Martins did all game... He may not get enough goals but his unselfish play helps us push further up the pitch because th opposition defence are always under pressure so can't play out from the back, not that Stoke would look to do that anyway... I still believe he doesn't get the right sort of servicto score goals in our team and if he were to go elsewhere we'd regret it!! |

CJ made a real difference today and meant that Stoke had two big guys to worry about. And he was first to react when their kee[per spilled it and didnt he do well getting the ball back across goal so quickly--he could easily have been tempted to shoot or try to play it back to the edge of the area. Excellent and with some squad rotation and a bit of luck with injuries we should avoid them burninmg out |

Watch his movement off the ball. It's awful. He runs in a straight line away from the ball, with no thought of where the defenders are, he never chages his run and never runs towards the ball (as he knows his control os not good enough). That is largely why he gets no service. However, as an impact player against tired defenders, I think he can be very effective, as proven today. |

Didn't see the game today but... Its nice to have Martins, Jerome and Zig. Whoever is on the bench gives us a real option to change the game as we have seen over the last few games. Being able to change the flow of the match is going to take us well away from the danger zone. Well done Eck and the lads. |

What you take out of our game when CJ is off the pitch is the out ball, the pace over the top or the willingness to run the channels. Yes I know whe can't hit a cow's bum with a banjo. I also know he has looked off the pace in the last couple of games, but like him or not he has been our only option in the last 3 years, now we have options , he really needs to be at his best every game. It is looking very good at the moment. Big Zig 3 in 3, Martins just getting up to speed and Cam up for it again , with Super Kev for the last 20 if we need him. :dancer: At the Back we have 2 shut outs , Curtis desperate to get on and Dann to come back. In Midfield we have the young prospect Mutch wanting to make his mark , Hleb to feature and Bow and beau stuck wanting to play, With Faddy training again. It is a very good squad that when all fit and fighting for places should see us OK for the rest of the season. And of course: We have a final to look forward to :dancer: :drink: |

***? i think you'll find he runs what pro's call "the channels" very well and that's why opposing defenders hate playing against him, and the very reason our midfielders love playing with him - he makes the space for them to pop the ball into. he has one glaring area that needs improving and that's his goals to chances ratio. |

Agree with Dan Lesser on this one. Just running away from the ball in 'the channels' hoping that a long ball will land at this feet is not effective. Our ball retention up front is poor because our defenders and midfield only have the option of hitting long hopeful balls. Defenders of this quality will lap this up all day, and do so against us. CJ needs to think more about making himself available for shorter passes, needs to work on this upper body strength and this ball control to become a more effective contributor. Oh, and needs to shooting practice to!!! IMO! |

Before he came on you could see that we were missing someone who could run and panic the defence. He also chases the lost cause and gets thrown-ins and corners out of nothing when he's raced half the length of the pitch and puts defenders under pressure. He is a very important cog of our team. |

It's hardly surprising that he changed the game. It has always been the case when he comes on later in the game against a tiring defence, his pace and strength is frightening at times. A few seasons ago, when he wasn't considered our main striker, like he arguably is now, he would often come on and make an impact. |

I agree that Jerome's plays best coming off the bench around 20-25mins to go, as an impact player. I was very disappointed with a few fans around me today though. first time big zig got the ball they were sarcastically shouting jump! We know if we just hoof it up to him he's not effective, that is not his game and also not how he was brought up to play football. Diagonal balls and crosses in the box however, a different story. Took his goal well beating carew to it =D |

Another thing aswell.. I really like Oba Martins, but I can guarantee you now.. There is absolutely zero chance he would spend 90 mins running the channels, chasing hoofballs like Jerome does all day Infact there are very few forwards in the league that would chase long balls down the channels all game like Jerome would. And people still knock his work-rate  |
