Still the most important striker at the club...

Martins showed a few nice touches and probably needs games before we see the best of him but Jerome did more in the short time he was on the pitch than Martins did all game...

He may not get enough goals but his unselfish play helps us push further up the pitch because th opposition defence are always under pressure so can't play out from the back, not that Stoke would look to do that anyway...

I still believe he doesn't get the right sort of servicto score goals in our team and if he were to go elsewhere we'd regret it!!

Watch his movement off the ball.
It's awful.
He runs in a straight line away from the ball, with no thought of where the defenders are, he never chages his run and never runs towards the ball (as he knows his control os not good enough).
That is largely why he gets no service.
However, as an impact player against tired defenders, I think he can be very effective, as proven today.

***?

i think you'll find he runs what pro's call "the channels" very well and that's why opposing defenders hate playing against him, and the very reason our midfielders love playing with him - he makes the space for them to pop the ball into. he has one glaring area that needs improving and that's his goals to chances ratio.

Agree with Dan Lesser on this one. Just running away from the ball in 'the channels' hoping that a long ball will land at this feet is not effective. Our ball retention up front is poor because our defenders and midfield only have the option of hitting long hopeful balls. Defenders of this quality will lap this up all day, and do so against us.

CJ needs to think more about making himself available for shorter passes, needs to work on this upper body strength and this ball control to become a more effective contributor. Oh, and needs to shooting practice to!!! IMO!

What a good Idea, Then we could rename him "George Best" :LMAO:

LOL!!! In that case we can be happy with what we have!!!!

In the same way that Bentley's arrival has kickstarted Larsson's season, we might see the same with Martins and Jerome.

Changed the game

Jerome and Martins for me up front

Zigic to come on and nod them in from a yard out after 70 mins

Havent seen anyone talking about it.. But I thought he was excellent when he came on..

The first time he touched the ball he took it past 2 Stoke players and always looked to go direct and cause trouble..

It's funny how everybody bashes him every week, but too often, he doesnt get praised.

It was his pure desire to get the ball, which set up the winner.

Well done CJ, changed the game!

I agree with this, Larsson has looked really good since Bentley came in and took his spot, now we have Bentley on the left and Larsson on the right, Quality :kro:

I spoke to a Cam hater at half time and said you will be screaming for him to come on later, because Obi had just been invisable! Cam came on and made the winner!!!

Totally spot on

The other factor to remember is that AM has told the entire squad that the Stoke, Newcastle ansd Sheffield Wednesday games are three matches in which he expects everyone to be playing for their Wembley places

Jiranek may well likely start at Wembley then.....Don't think weve lost since he's been in the side

Can't see a place for Helb though......although personally I think we should play Hleb in the Cup Final ......would be a huge match for him to show us what he can really do against his old pals (no pun intended)

It's all about opinions Des but I can't agree with Martins being invisible....
He was thrown in at the deep end and I think he made a good first impression....
Not brilliant obviously but better than Torres in his first game for Chelski....
His touches and movement off the ball impressed me and now it will be up to the rest of the team to become aware that we have a striker who is hungry and gifted....
Just like Ziggy - give him a little time and he will deliver....
Fortunately he has experience of the Premiership already and he needs players around him that are aware of his abilities....
I actually think we have a real good squad mix at the moment and if we can hang onto Bentley, Seb and Martins come summer then we will move forward at a pace **thumbup

Not the best game to judge Martins on

Dont think we played to his strengths, we got sucked into playing hoofball at times

For me MARTINS / JEROME up front . ZIGIC off the bench

Jeromes assist for Zigic was excellent .... just looped it up without looking, he knew where Zigic should be and did exactly the right thing for him ... looped it up nice so Zig could be first to meet it from the sky two yards out, level with the crossbar.

Great play Jerome .. well done Ziggy
