Can't say I find it amusing. Having a go at someones misfortune is bad form for me.
I think the club should let him go in the disabled end although I do think he should pay for his ticket.
Give the guy a break.

about time he gave himself a break i'd say.

hardly misfortune is it? eating as much as he does...

hes addicted to food and doesnt seem to have done anything to try and stop.

there are far harder habits to kick than food.

Misfortune is:

Being paralyzed
Born with an illness
Falling down the stairs when you are sleep walking ;)

I would not say excessive eating is misfortune.

Just like the moose making fun out of him on talksport this morning, he is easy prey. Here was a guy who decided to take the mickey due to his beloved west ham getting knocked out by us. He's habit is food no doubt and is grossly at risk but is he anyworse off than a 20 a day smoker who's lungs are shot to bits.

We've all got our faults I just think we should help out a fellow blues nut. **thumbup

sorry fella, if this was the first time I'd heard of his "struggle" I'd probably feel sorry for him, but seeing him in the boozer downing 20 odd pints then at a curry house ordering 1 of everything on the menu, 2 TV shows, specialist diets drawn up and ignored, regular emergency call outs, regular trips to the hospital draining the NHS, pizza deliveries to his hospital bed, disability allowence and extra money for food (due to his addiction)...

have made my sympathy disapear!!

Havent a care in the world for this bloke, self inflicted Im sorry but theres people out there less fourtunate than him that wont be able to go and hes had countless times to loose his weight, I mean wasnt it almost 5 years ago that the inside britains fattest man show was aired? Self inflicted his problem not the clubs, would give out the wrong message if the club compensated him just for being fat and I for one would feel cheated if he got a ticket on the free just for being morbidly obese.

Just took this from the birminghammail site and sums up my thoughts and opinions exactly.

Quote:

Was I just dreaming it or, did I read in the (Evening) Birmingham Mail a few years back that Mr Austin had actually fallen out with Blues because, after spending a year of giving him a free season ticket and other privileges, that finally said he would have to pay for his ticket - like everybody else?

Mr Austin has featured in TV documentaries about his weight and always expressed his determination to follow a strict diet in order to combat the his problem. So far, it appears as though he is yet to attempt these diets, nevermind stick to them.

I fear this latest piece of publicity seems to be no more that another attempt to get the club (or maybe Wembley) to provide him with a complimentary ticket in the interests of good PR.

Sorry Barry but, there will be a lot of disappointed Blues fans who can’t get tickets, (I wonder where they all were for the rest of season) . You will just have to accept that you are one of many.

I have no sympathy for him either really. The last time I saw him in the media it was because he had won a seat in a major poker tournament in Vegas. Why was he in the paper? Not because of the winning the place in the tournament, he was in there with the same "I'm so sad and unfortunate" face saying that he can't go because he is too big to go on the plain. Obviously I don't know this for sure, and won't make any definate claims due to libel, but in my opinion only it seems he is just hoping that someone will let him come in their box (ooh er) at their cost.

So he would be prepared to go on a crash diet in order to see his beloved blues at Wembley? But he is not prepared to go on a crash diet to possibly save his own life? The thing is he is semi famous round these parts as "Fat" Barry Austin.

If he were too lose all the weight he would just be "Barry Austin" and would lose any notoriety, would have to get a job and wouldn't have to put a sad face on in the media to try and get freebies.

Give the guy a break.

Haven't you clicked on to the fact he doesn't work.

He chooses to eat his way to death's door....

Oh and the main reason I don't feel sorry for the useless fat **** is because tax payers are feeding him!

Unless you have a problem medically, you should not be given benefits.

Lazy, greedy Fu**er

If he tried walking up that hill from McDonalds to the game without stopping at a burger van, it might do him some good. He might well have a mental illness causing his obesity, but his family should get him out walking, and doing some light weights whilst seated, otherwise he's going to die.

someone should send him out to Ethiopia and make him walk through masses of starving children.

maybe that would be the wake up call he needs!
