before I get my coat he is a solid player and seems to be a decent fella so hope he can progress over the coming years.

Let's put it this way -

IF Ridgewell was not fit to play at Wembley - I wouldn't be too worried.

Defensively he's shocking however going forward he's quite effective.

He's a good player

Lacks a little pace but then so do most defenders even in the Prem

Has a great left foot on him and has already proved he can be an exceptional free kick expert

Should be selected at LB ahead of Ridgewell in all honesty......Ridgewell has done very well over the past year or so but he's simply not a natural full back...although being taller, Ridgewell is better in the air

I'd still like us to sign both a new right back and left back in the summer but Murph is an asset to the squad in general

this :applause:

Any good attacker makes mincemeat out of him (I don't know if this is lack of match practice or the level)... but he is far better than Ridge going forwards. I think Eck should consider using him more in games we should be winning...

His three goals for the season should make him our most potent goal threat if you break it down in to minutes played. Let's play him up front- he could be our twenty goal a season man.

Much like what Harry Redknapp did with Gareth Bale, and Dalglish should with Glen Johnson, he's a midfielder who made the wrong choice to be a full-back and should be reinvented.

Very much so. His obvious lack of pace wouldn't be so obviously exploited in midfield and he's also decent in the air. He should be played as an old style left half in my view.

To be honest is the opposite of Ridgewell. Ridge is great defensive but pure pish going forward and Murphy is terrible at defending and good going forward. Said this many times we need a quality left back in the Summer no doubt.

Mcleish did play him in left midfield a few times i think in the championship season maybe? But as with most things on this forum i'm pretty sure he was moaned at for being too defensive playing 2 left backs :)

but yes he is a better attacker than defender however i still think he needs to be playing Beusejour on the left more now he's getting used to the pace.

I can see Beau having a great season next year
