Yeung reveals cup dream Owner expects League survival Bryan Swanson, Chief News Reporter, Sky Sports News Birmingham owner Carson Yeung has spoken about his 'dream' at reaching this weekend's Carling Cup Final and says he expects the club to remain in the Premier League. Yeung has also revealed, in a rare interview, he has been impressed with the club's new signings last month. "I'm sure we can stay in the Premier League." Yeung told Sky Sports News HD in Hong Kong. "We're still looking for good players to join our team. (David) Bentley and (Obafemi) Martins are good players. They have had some good performances. Maybe they can do even better after a few more games." When asked if Birmingham would ever pay ₤50m for one player, as Chelsea did for Fernando Torres in January, Yeung replied: "It's step by step for us and we cannot rush." Yeung prepares to fly 6,000 miles to London for the club's first League Cup Final since 2001, when they lost on penalties to Liverpool. He added: "It's just not Birmingham fans who are excited. This is my dream too. It's exciting and amazing. My dream has almost come true." Plans Birmingham showed plans for a potential stadium redevelopment at their annual shareholders dinner in Hong Kong but stressed their priority is to preserve their place in the Premier League next season. "Premier League retention is our aim." said Peter Pannu, Birmingham acting chairman, to Sky Sports News HD. "I'm sure the Carling Cup Final will give the boys some confidence and a jab up their arm and take us further." Yeung also confirmed that Birmingham will continue their search to sign a Hong Kong or Chinese player. He added: "We are still looking for one and we want to get the best player." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11694_6774991,00.html? |

How did Carson Yeung get a ticket? He hasn't been to any games this year. Disgraceful! |
