Anyone else think he could have proved a major squad addition this season, especially after not having McFadden we lost all creativity and watch just one tiny clip v Everton last season made me realise that.

I thought this the other day, after probably watching the same clip?
Leading up to one of the goals at Goodison last year?

End of last season i wasn't convinced he'd done enough to stay, but now i believe we've missed out.

Chucho was the top scorer in the Mexican league last season banging them in with power and precision from all distances and all angles, I know as I live in Mexico and I saw him with my own eyes banging them in!!! I wrote to the BCFC imploring them to get him back in January and also Humberto Suazo from Monterrey on a four month loan before the play offs in the Mexican League in May. It would have cost us just their "Mexican" wages.

I don't think it would matter to be honest.

Martins is a similar type of player to Chucho - only he is better and proven in the Premiership. But Big Eck doesn't seem to want to play him.

Funny as I saw moat of his goals in highlights and they involved rounding the keeper and tapping into an open net.

Plus I could be top score in Mexico

Wasn't any good in the PL...? :LMAO:

His sharpness, speed and dynamic skill frightend the hell out of Premier League defenders and he was an intrinzic part of the 4-4-2 "unbeatables" Blues squad in our record breaking run last year who everybody was talking about before he was relegated to the bench by AMC and with the exception of the Carling Cup Final our unity and performance has only been a shadow of what it was ever since.

OK so he fluffed a couple of open goals during that run which was down to his confidence as he was new to the English Premier League, its not as if other squad players at Blues haven't fluff chances on goal since then like Jerome and Zigic to name the most consistant. He did however score a winning goal against Chelsea at St. Andrew taking his true goal tally to 4 with 4 assists in 21 (9) starts in his first season, whereas our no-touch wonder CJ who you do support has scored 3 goals and 4 assists in 22 (4) start this season and Chucho has netted 14 times with 2 assists in 16 (0) starts for Santos Laguna in the Primera Division Apertura this season.

Yes I know CJ puts in a good shift and works hard closing down defenders but he make far too many mistakes when he should be taking goals and Chucho Benitez brought a far more dynamic edge to our play and our squad last year which Jerome has woefully missed this season.

Alex McLeish has said that he did want to keep Bentitez last season but he and the board wouldn't pay the £5+Mil (8.5Mil US Dollars) and when he brought Obafemi Martins in from Russia on loan he described him as a Chucho type player, though we have yet to see this.

Cameron Jerome is running down his fifth and final season of his contract with Blues he has asked for more money this year but we're still waiting for the striker to perform without Benitez alongside him. We should have given Chucho a second season to build his confidence up in front of goal, he's still out there banging them in as per in Mexico, and I would love to have the dynamic forward back at St. Andrews but it ain't gonna happen because you can't reverse a Custer decision can you?

Bring on the Lakota Sioux scoucers and the Cheyenne cockneys!

My understanding was he had failed some kind of test meaning he could not play in the UK anyway so could we have kept him anyway???

Chucho wasnt a P.L player. same problem as Jerome cant score why waste the money. Zigic is wayyyyyyy more of a threat and scores so why waste the same money on benitez. liked him at the blues but for the money asked no thanks.

He failed a basic English test

But it was after the fact anyway so to sepak

Chucho was quite simply an overhyped Sullivan import.....easily knocked off the ball and lacked composure in front of goal and in the box where it mattered .....Plus he spent most of the game on his 'arris

He chipped in with 4 measely goals (three of them from three yards out) whereas Jerome managed 11

Alex didn't want him.....and most of the Blues fans (well those you know a decent forward when they see one) didn't want him either

Mods....as he's an ex Blues player anwyay....can these Chucho threads go straight to the "As You Go Through Life " section

I'm sick and tired of seeing them every day

The guy is history.....get over it

It's no coincidence that the unbeaten run was when Benitez was in the team.

McLeish hated it though and his injury against Wolves was what he was waiting for. He hardly picked him after that.........and we have been on relegation form ever since.

Flair, skills and natural ability is not McLeish's game. It's running, passion and the dressing room for him............that's why we are 19th.

He declined Benitez and spent the money on Zigic. That about sums him up. He certainly knows how to drive the fans away.

Boring, boring City.

Yes he did, but he also couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. His replacement in my eyes is Zigic - legend, enough said.

Opinions eh, Parti?!

Even neutrals that I know (season ticket holders at Arsenal) thought he was a brilliant player, they compared him to Tevez (who took a long time to settle and score).

Tattum also mentioned that Eck was considering making a move for him again.

Our team is static. We greatly miss a player capable of running past 4-5 players and laying on a tap in for the forwards (no coincidence Jerome has struggled without him).

If we stay up I would love to see him back next season, most people would. Even without his goals he was our most creative player. If he's rediscovered his scoring touch he could be as good as Tevez.

Chuuuuuuuuuuuuchooooooo!!!

BTW, you can easily tell who has a season ticket by these responses. It's impossible not to be a fan if you've witnessed him skin entire teams with silky skills.

And without Zigic we would be adrift at the bottom and had been knocked out in the semis, stop being so one track and look at what you are saying.

Benitez 4 goals and about 5 assits
Zigic 8 goals and already about 5 assists

Driving the fans away? Since when did winning silverware "drive the fans away". Grow up, we are paying the price for our carling cup success, and the international break could not have come at a better time for us.

Zigic is a legend. He won us the Quarter Final, won us the Semi Final and is the ONLY blues player ever to score at the new Wembley (martins is on loan). The guy has got SO many important goals, and is probably the sole reason why we aren't bottom of the league.

You never have anything positive to say about the blues. Even when we won the cup you just stayed away for a few weeks rather than joining in the celebrations. If you want success and safety then go join the thousands of man united glory hunters. Theres a difference between constructive criticism of our players, managers and board, and just plain negativity and pessimism. If anything the Joke of the Week is you :banghead:

....also, that un-beaten run last season was down to our defence not our attack, something which is mysteriously lacking this season.
