how would any team or supporters want a manager that has kept us in and out of the bottom 3 most of the season and the lowest scoreing team bar one in all 4 divisions.

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word most.

Hes right. He has kept us out of the bottom 3, for most of the season.

Lets be fair under McLeish we could have only ever been in or out of the bottom 3 ALL season.

This is a logical certainty.

In response to the inaccurate negativity implied in the post I think we have actually been in the bottom 3 this season twice last week and when we lost at home to Arsenal, out of 30 games so far played that is 6.67%.

Hardly "most" is it in fact the very opposite we have been outside the bottom 3 for the vast majority of the season. Well done Blues keep it up.

Come on Blues

What is awesome about a guy who has taken eight months to realize that the best striker in the club by far is one Kevin Phillips? Personally I think the loan deals on Martins and Derbyshire were a waste of time and money.

Even though Martins won us our first major trophy in 136 years. You really are a>>>>>>>>>

I could have scored that and I'm sixty you ***** and %^""

You propably get out of breath taking your seat at the game (if you ever go) let alone run around a football pitch.

Indeed I do, but I still reckon I could have scored that goal before I collapsed on the floor.

But you didn't and Martins did. He was switched on and some players could have backed off expecting the Keeper to pick it up. Anyway, Martins is a legend and will always be remembered. KRO!!!!

Papaulski, I'm absolutely chuffed that Martins was on hand to score such a historical goal but tapping a ball into any empty net doesn't make him a better striker than KP, does it?

And when did I say he was or wasn't... I believe he will be good for us if he plays. Other than the goal against Arsenal he was great. All im saying is don't try and take the credit he's getting away from him because alot of player wouldn't have even been in the box still and he was switch on.

He's a great player, lets face the facts. If he plays im sure he will get some goals before the end of the season. KRO!!!!

He is a leader and a figure head, a man of integrity.

He has the respect of the players.

He has set about the campaign with a lesser squad and competed well. We did well against top 6 sides including a win against Chelsea. This is excellent work.

To answer your question directly. Phillips has been somewhat of a blind spot for McLeish and he appears to accept that Phillips is proving us all wrong. You can understand his point of view a 37 year old striker playing in one of the top leagues in the world for 90 minutes. It's a big ask. I think he was hoping Jerome would get over his drought and come good.

When I first saw Phillips score in the cup I thought he was looking good. I thought it was fair enough leaving him out through January as we up against top 6 sides playing 4-5-1 and Jerome's work rate is better and needed. I was disappointed he didnt come on as sub more though.

However I did post that he should have given Phillips a shout in the Newcastle. He has an excellent record and I think it was a missed opportunity.

Unfortunately he didnt read the forum or Im sure he would of :-)

No manager is perfect just ask Ferguson who at the moment has to watch his team play from the stand and Wenger who's beautiful football isnt winning him anything.

A manager has to make decisions not all of them come off. Furthermore please remember this was Plan D he was working to. Unfortunately plan D didnt work out that great. Hleb has been injured most of the time. Derbyshire hasnt really been that successful and Jerome isnt scoring. Why didnt he use Phillips more. Well McLeish didnt plan on Jerome having a goal drought. We also got off to a poor start of the season letting in goals. He had to do something to stop the leaks.

Given this considering we are still competing in the campaign and doing better than Villa who have a squad worth at least twice as much as us. I dont think we have much to complain about given this combined with the Carling cup I think "awesome" is still pretty spot on.

Phillips "may or may not" have picked us up possibly another 3 points by now at the end of the day we really dont know. As fans we pick a winning team and
trounce the opposition 10-0 every week but in reality it is not as easy. All in all McLeish is a fantastic manager and we are lucky to have him.
Would you rather have Houllier?

Ive said it once I'll say it again Birmingham City have their man in McLeish.

:blues:

As a man he is top notch ....but....
Eck is negative and we do play negative football, only one team has scored less goals than us in all 4 divisions and untill we get a decent striker in and Eck starts to play more attacking football I will be unconvinced with him.

do you think he doesn't realise that

As said time and time again, you play to your strengths, however sometimes we do just tend to sit back, Hleb and Bentley just havn't fit in with their attacking play as we are slow getting forward with bodies.

Those two players not being able to have a consistent run in the side (due to injuries) hasn't helped either...

I'd be interested to see how a side similar to the following would do...

......................................Foster........................................

Carr.............Jiranek...........................Roger.............Ridgey

....................................Ferguson.....................................

Bentley...........Hleb...........................Gardner............Faddy

I would like that but with Martins/Phillips/Derbyshire up front, Zigic invites the boring, hoofball get a set-piece goal for me.

Got it spot on today - especially playing v Kevin Davies the way we did

He said he was happy with the draw. How dull, defensive and boring. Meanwhile a bit further north the Baggies were entertzaining and playing fo a win --- and guess what? they won 3-2.

Sack the bore.

Foster MOTM saved us, I do not think tatics had anything to do with it.

Utter tosh. Seb hit two belters and we could won this 1-3 with a bit of luck and there keeper not being on similar form to ours. The team defended well - bar one mistake - and took the game to Blackburn.

You wouldn't be saying it was all down the keeper if we'd won so why say it when we get a good point, away from home against some fellow strugglers?
