I like Jerome. He brings something to the team that a lot of teams would love to have pace and power.

He does give defenders a different task especially when played alongside Zigic, which I think is Jeromes best fit.

What frustrates me is his lack of control. However I think this has improved a lot from previous seasons.

I've never played as a pacey, powerful striker in the premier league - so I can't make aspersions on how easy or hard it is to score at this level.

If we can afford another striker maybe two in the summer then I'd like to see Jerome challenged. He has often been the only option up front with others being injured or completely out of form. Players like Derbyshire haven't pulled their weight this season and haven't made a compelling case to be picked ahead of Jerome or with Jerome. Zigic has been adjusting and I class this season as a get out of jail free card season for him in as much as he can make mistakes whilst he adjust and get up to speed with the league and the team. Phillips would be the perfect option for the team, if only he was 10 years younger.

I have to say I agree with every point you made...except for Steve Whitton!! LOL
Bob Latchford 94 goals in around two hundred appearences. South Birmingham boy true blues fan played for England and on Valentines day 1974 we sold him literally for a handfull of silver a very good midfielder and a rubbish full back!
What a **** deal!!
Francis Latchford Hatton goals goals goals!!

Whitton was the 'star' striker in the team that went to third for the first time, which was also my first full season. Id have loved to have seen a real star like Latchford play. Blaming my folks for that one!

Sorry, can't agree with you on this Bob.

Apart from pace and power, Jerome offers little if nothing at all in attack.

How many one-on-ones does he miss?

I'm sick of all this "He'll get better" etc! He hasn't scored in the league since November ffs that record is bad for any striker let alone a premier league striker on ridiculous wages! :banghead:

The guy is suffering confidence wise. Get behind him. He has not had the best of seasons but neither has Torres. Not comparing Jerome to Torres but it just shows how confidence can play a big part in how a player performs. get behind the kid and show your support and we may be able to lift him. He puts a great shift in for the team. Without him we would be a lot less threatening. Did he not create the goal v Blackburn?

Might need some work but this might be the basis for a song for our Cameron:

Welcome home Cameron Jerome
Come on in and close the door
You've been gone too long
Welcome your home onecmore
or
Lets see you score you'll hear us roar

(Look up Welcome home by Peters and Lee on Youtube for the youngsters amoung you for the tune)

That front three was as good as anyones' in the top league at the time. Bob Hatton was also very underrated and, a top class finisher.
The trouble was our defence was ******* useless !!!

I've always supported him mate and I agree the abuse he gets is unfair but for the money he's on he should be scoring alot more than he does.

If every man, woman and child spent 90-minutes chanting his name at the top of their voices and applauding every single movement he made, he still wouldn't be a Premiership striker.

And yes, I do support him when he plays, but seeing him make the wrong decisions week in, week out, does test your patience. Impact sub at best.

Yes we create chances for him but usually only half chances/difficult chances, I think the pressure gets to him on the pitch because if you look at him training before the game he puts everyone of his shots in the corner.

Surely Jerome is being picked at present ( and "bigged up" by the manager) because we have no other options. Zigic ( who had started to play well and score) is injured, and so is Martins.  Because those two can't play, Jerome has to, and Big Eck is accepting that we are going to get no goals from him by including Phillips.
Hard work should be a gimme for a Blues player; so I don't give credit to Jerome for that. At £25k+ a week, I expect all the players to break a sweat. Pace is no use without ball control; you have to take the ball with you.
Jerome is 25 now; he's not going to get any better. What you see is what you get; and for me, he is well off the standard we need.

I watched the Carling Cup Final tother day and we won 2-1 against Arsenal and the fact of the matter is Nichola Zigic was bleedin useless!

:LMAO: :LMAO:

He basically won us that Carling Cup final.

He went on the mazy run that won a corner, that he scored.

He won basically every header.

He set up the winner.

Big Eck needs to sell Jerome in the summer, he's a Championship player, Zigic and Phillips next season with another striker.
Haven't seen enough of Martins.
