given the disruption with johnson etc ( who distracted ridge when he came back on) thought we battled really well for that point

Davies did well
with only the boggies winning it's a point gained on all our rivals

8 points from 7 games needed

I think we were really good today...
blackburn have only lost 7 in 41 at ewood Park
as mcleish says on the BBC website - if you fear things you'll never achieve anything....

They are not a good team and if a real dogfight with all of us at the bottom.

Tbh I'd have taken a point before the game and even more so considering the results of today. I didn't see any of the game because I was out running the line on a local semi-final but I assume it was a decent performance?

It was a poor game but a point is a point, Blackburn are a poor side IMO and could easily drop.

I feel greedy thinking we should've been 2-0 up at HT, but doesnt matter, because a point there is a great result, and if we can beat Sunderland next week, we might hopefully start to see a gap emerging, really hope so.

Let's keep this thread at the top rather than the usual negative ones.

My contribution for this admirable motive --- from the match thread.

Quote:

Fortress Blackburn ?

They have lost 4 games at Home all season - same as us.

They were bouyed by a superb result AWAY at Arsenal last week and we were also confident after beating Bolton. A draw was the thing most bookies wrote down - they were going for a Blackburn WIN.

WE had no Zigic or Martins available.

Look at it from the dug-out.

Bowyer first then RJ who I swear was unconscious at one point. 7 Minutes added time and 'physcho RJ' comes back on - we've seen what he is like when substituted ---- he hadn't even reached his position before they equalised.

Look at it from the dug-out perspective.

Do we need another Wigan?
When Ferguson was knocked senseless (another 3 minutes to add on) ---do you bring on Hleb ? Replace a thistle with a buttercup?

Ferguson, like RJ----Another 'physcho blues' player. He won't be substituted, he won't give in.

Possession
Blackburn 51% Birmingham 49%
Attempts on target
Blackburn 5 Birmingham 5

Nothing to be ashamed of there, ---AND----we are a match closer to getting Martins and Zigic back. A match closer to playing a fitter, stronger Hleb.

Meanwhile, can some of us acknowledge that this was another patched up Blues team.
Forget the PR during the week, look at our starting line up and our bench.
Patched up Blues.

Now, for just once in a while, try supporting Blues instead of these inane ramblings about playing for a draw.

We didn't lose ---- at a ground that has only lost 4 Home matches all season.

4 points out of Six, is that sad?

As----
Alex said 2 weeks ago-----last season, when we went on our good run he used---how many players?-------13. ( For you new members. )

This season almost our whole 25 players have had to be called upon. That's a huge difference.

It isn't down just to our not scoring and it isn't down to having a different back four 27 times ----- it is down to our ability to transfer Wast Hills to the match day. Feeding, probing, creating and making dramatic twists in a game.

Balance that with the number of players that were not assessed as match fit, on the day, and you have a club with empty spaces on the bench. TWICE.

One point at Ewood is terrific.

They have lost AT HOME to
Spurs
Chelsea
Stoke
Arsenal.

All season.

Any loony thinking they were a walkover at Home is demented, imo.

We did not have the back up for speculative subs.
Hleb, would not have made any impact, imo ---against such a robust and upfield
presence of bone crunchers.

AM did right.

He solidified a weakened defence. Re-arranged.

He preserved the midfield because that is not one of Super Kev's abilities.Tackling back, tackling even, passing forward, winning a ball etc.

With what we had available, today's match and the point is pretty dynamic.

It's a great point and it might just prove to be very valuable come the end of the season.

Well done lads today.......looking forward to Sunderland next week.

He got the team playing with purpose. We looked much better going forward and were unfortunate to go into the break without a lead.

He is showing good leadership. He doesnt expect more from a player than they can give. If the players continue to take responsibility to play to the level he asks of them we should be able to ensure that we take the next step in building the club.

Come On Blues

A very good point, we fought hard for it, some last ditch tackles etc kept us in it, but a well deserved point

If we beat Sunderland by two goals we'll go above them and go along way to ensuring safety. Yesterday's point was a valuable one and for those who complaind about the quality well isn't that what we've being doing all season? We fight hard and are relatively hard to beat but we don't have the necessary quality to put teams like Blackburn away. For those who complain about the number of draws I'd take seven more draws for the rest of the season.

well done Roy Hodgson.

He outdid McLeish at Fulham in the year McLeish relegated us. And now you are doing it again this time with West Brom. Good attitude and good results, meanwhile we still have to sufer McLeish and his negative, play for a draw attitude.

Your constant negative comments arent going to carry the day here mate. You can moan until doomsday for all I care. We will improve and build our club with you or without you.

Your constant whining is a reminder that we must always strive to do better but generally it comes across as a minor irritant if that.

I would prefer to treat your absurd remarks with the contempt they deserve but just to ensure you dont think for 1 second that your remarks have any ground they will constantly be refuted.

Really hope you enjoy the Sunderland game.

It was a good point. We just have to win 2 or 3 more of our remaining home games and we are safe. With the remaining away fixtures i would take a point in every single one. (Just as a side note, I said that before the blackburn game too).
