West HAM will make a stunning move for Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish at the end of the season – with time running out for Avram Grant after another crushing defeat at Bolton yesterday.

The Hammers hierarchy of David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady are huge fans of Big Eck after giving him the Blues job during their reign at St Andrews.

Grant’s fate looks sealed whether West Ham stay up or not.

But selling the job to McLeish – or other options like out-of-work Steve McClaren – will be tougher if they are relegated to the Championship.

However, McLeish could be tempted if the deal is right and the budget is in place – despite taking Birmingham into Europe as Carling Cup winners.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for the Scot when he worked for Sullivan, Gold and Brady before. With claims of players being targeted and even signed by the bosses upstairs, he would want assurances of no interference from above.

Birmingham have major money issues to address at the end of the season, including the size of budget McLeish will have to work with. And after yesterday’s draw at Blackburn, they are just three points off the relegation places, with a game in hand over third-bottom Hammers.

The final snag could be compensation for McLeish – and that will be a thorny battle as relations between the Hammers owners and Carson Yeung at City have been strained since the club’s sale.

Just ask yourself this "Having worked for Dodgy Dave & Co once would you go back to 'em?"

looks like a case of an editor saying he wants a few words to fill a page and some lazy journo churning out a load of old tosh.

You can never say never to McLeish taking another job, as much as most of us love him here. It was only in October last year that McLeish was known to have bought a new home in Fulham (West London)?

McLeish is our best asset it is not surprising he he coveted by other clubs. West Ham are a club who wont be able to throw money around for a while. The West Ham board know McLeish can get results on a low budget.

It wouldnt surprise me at all if McLeish is targeted in the same way a player is targeted. I feel the manager is the most important side of the football set up.
His judgement and coaching skill is paramount to the club doing well.

McLeish is an excellent manager with a first class reputation that can be trusted.

I hope he stays with Blues for a long, long, long time.

I have said it once and I'll say it again Birmingham City have their man in McLeish.

This has to be one of the most far-fetched stories I've heard concerning McLeish.
Assuming we stay up, McLeish will be at a club that funds transfers and is playing in the Europa League. On the other hand, West Ham have financial difficulties, no European football, a board with limitations, possible relegation and even if they stay up are likely to need to sell their better players to balance the books.

Is that support or not ?

:LMAO:

There is your message Avram, take them down and walk away with your comp

Alex !

Go and battle for an Academy, a scouting network a backroom, medical oversight and provision.

Everything you faught for at Blues. And was eventually provided through Carson. Now start all over again and try and get those things from Sullivan / Brady

:LMAO:

As if.

Another diversionary PR tactic as a result of the Olypmpics dropping into the relegation zone...again.

McLeish has openly admitted that there were strains on the working relationship up here when our previous owners were in charge.

Really see him going back to them, because I cant..

He won't leave us for another struggling team. Eck will want to be part of the Europa dream.

I could see him leaving for a top 4 club, but Wet Spam have no chance.

McLeish has been in English football for three and a half years.

In that time, who's won more trophies, him or Wenger?

I think its a very valid opportunity for west ham and mcleish, guess though that if he is given some assuarances by Cy that the lure of Europe would keep him here.
By the way Bobby Roy Hodgson got the L`pool job so dont think i would be rotflmao as you seem to be.
