David Bentley has not lived up to the hype prior to his arrival at blues and I have to admit I got this one wrong.

Proccy blues you have won and your bold statement of never losing a bet holds up well fair play to you for getting it right.

That does not mean he should not be signed if a deal can be done however and it should mean that any fee agreed with Tottenham should be based on how he has performed for us during his loan.

If Larsson goes which looks likely then personally I would want bentley to replace him.

He hasn't had a long enough run in the team to prove himself.

I think we should go in for Kranjcar instead, he has more pace.

The one thing that concerns me about Bentley is that he completely slows down the pace of the game, by not releasing the ball quick enough. Krancjar or even N'Zogbia both have a great sense of urgency, they attack quickly and efficiently, where as Bentley seems to try and humiliate as many defenders as possible before releasing a ball.

IMO we're missing a trick if we don't sign N'Zogbia. He's easily one of the best wingers in the league and he still wants to join us. An all action two footed winger who is capable of delivering crosses, splitting passes and scores great goals. There can be no concern over his attitude, he's clearly self
motivated to reach the top.

I do like Bentley and I think we have seen his true quality here and there. I think the injury came at a terrible time for him. With Larsson going (my opinion) I think Bentley would be a great player to sign

If we stay up & with europe next season I would (if the price Is right) sign him. With a full pre season under his belt & get his confidence back then we have a top top player on our hands.

prefer Larsson to Bentley myself, solely for the defensive side of his game

Definatly people seem to forget that in his first few games he was man of the match. Hes the sort of player we need to improve with a proper pre season he could be back to his blackburn days his goal against coventry shows the sort of quality he poseses.. Just needs to pass the ball earlier. I would definatly sign him with larsson looking like he is off.

If I was Bentley I would be absolutely pupping myself right now. Alongside Hleb he is the most gifted creative player we have but he cant get a game. Larsson is keeping him out of the side. Fairplay to Larsson he is showing a bit of form at the moment.

Larsson has a reasonable amount of talent and when he applies himself he can be a quality midfielder.

Bentley has plenty of talent but has problems applying himself.

Bentley coming here has done Larsson alot of good it gave him a kick up the backside. Bentley on the other hand hasnt quite seized the opportunity in front of him. He had a chance to really show the premiership what he is all about and he hasnt made the most of it so far injury or not. Whereas Larsson has responded and upped his game Bentley hasnt shown the hunger for me.

I wonder if Bentley has had enough of football he doesnt sound like a lad battering down McLeish's door shouting I want to play.

Bentley's wife needs to start laying down the law you get your finger out son or we are going to Huddersfield for the sake of their family rather than Blues.
(No Offence to Huddersfield intended)

For me the jury's out he doesnt look hungry enough for it. It's a shame he is a talented lad but we need a professional who wants to apply himself more.

I think Hleb wants to play football and if we can do a deal thats the one I would go for.

:blues:

P.S Hadnt realised Hleb had ruled himself out. Maybe Bentley has to be relooked at but at present I dont think we can go for either of them.

If we end up with neither Hleb nor Larsson then shouldn't we be looking at Redmond for that role?

Agreed, If we sign Krancjar and if wigan go down we could easily get N'Zogbia. I bet N'Zogbia is gutted that he tried to be a little mercenary and get more money after we won the Carling cup. I'd start N'Zogbia at the lowest wage that the club can offer and tell him he has to earn more.

The only way to get experience is to play and the only experience he is getting now is with England u-17's (or is it u-18's?)

What I mean is you can't just go with him into next season. You need cover just incase its too much too soon. I'd like to see him on the bench more next year but he needs some experience coming off the bench before he becomes a starter. KRO!!!!

Would love him here if spurs would let him go for the right price, espically if Larsson is off

.... and he still wants to join us.

What makes you think that? I'm not sure if he ever really wanted to join us and would much rather go to a top 6 club.

Although a lot of people will disagree and tell you we should never go back in for him because of how he messed us around I would agree with you that he'd still be a quality signing. I think hes one of the most comfortable dribblers in the Premiership. Not just a whack it and run like Walcott, the ball seems to be glued to his feet.

Back on topic, I'd sign Bentley if the price was right purely on reputation. Again, people will disagree with that but I think he showed enough just on his debut (against Villa) to prove the quality he has. You need to build your team around him and make him feel like a star. Rightly or wrongly I think thats the way to get the best out of him and he'd be the best player we've seen at this club for years.
