With The Europa League Coming Up and incase of a chance we suffer the injuries we have this year, we will need a lot of players to come in.

But why spend money when there is a lot of players available for free...

John Carew
David Vaughan
Johan Elmander
Zoltan Gera
Michael Owen
Owen Hargreaves
Abdoulaye Faye
Eidur Gudjohnsen
Johnathan Woodgate
Giles Barnes
Matthew Upson
Victor Obinna
Mahamadou Diarra
Petri Pasanen

is just a host of players available on a free and worth a punt surely?

Upson been there done that
Woodgate never too many injuries
Barnes been there done that when we had him on trial earlier in season
Owen too old too many injuries
Gudjohnson past it

We need fresh legs and youth in the team

i have to agree especially if we go down we need young players but also experienced players, so some of them players on a free would prove good signings especially if we have a good europen run

David Vaughan's off to Sunderland I think. Tidy little player though.

Kieran Westwood is a very good keeper on a free, and Pratley from Swansea would be a good addition.

I'm sure I heard that Stoke had taken over Carew's contract and had offered him an extention? So that would mean He Isn't on a free In the summer... If he accepted It that Is....

Not that I'd have him at Blues anyway.....

David Nugent
Hal-Robson Kanu
Ferrie Bodde
Angel Rangel

Seamus Coleman signed a new four and a half year contract in January... Blues should have signed him when they had him on trial. Opportunity missed.

As i stated not long ago on this very thread, Seamus Coleman has only signed a new four and a half year deal with Everton in January...

He's a regular at Everton, so why would he want to join Blues in the Championship?

He was on trial at Blues prior to signing for Everton... We let him get away.

Clyne will have premier league clubs interested (wolves for one), but Blues still may have a chance.

If what you say about Coleman having been at Blues is true then that, surely, is yet another cock up by the eternal loser McLeish. He's a suberb player but perhaps he doesn't sweat enough to arouse AM's interest?

I too can confirm Coleman was at blues before everton. When fahey signed we went irish crazy. also had 2 other lads sign short term deals Gary Dicker and winger Pat Kavanagh.

Think the first two players we should look at signing play in league one and they are Joe Lewis and Craig Mikhail-Smith, probably get them on the cheap if Peterborough don't win their playoff final.

I'd deffo try for Craig Mikhail-Smith. He's about our level at the moment and if he only scores half of what he scored for Peterborough he's scored more than our entire forward line.....

Come on Blues pull your finger out and get him before someone else does ...

Oh well - he's gone :copno:

Problem is Penguin can you honestly see any of those taking the step down to the Championship, I can't and from that list those that might ala Barnes I would not want.

I know we have to cut our cloth so to speak but we aren't going to get promoted with other teams scrap. I would prefer as mentioned in my other post players like Eagles or look at the best players of other Championship clubs that will be interested in Europa and see us as a real chance to play in the Prem next season. I would even prefer us to look downwards at some promising talent in Div 1, but lets not go down the route of journey men and scraps i.e. Bent we all know where that ended up last time.

Westwood and Vaughn both look like they are heading to Sunderland. Westwood would have been a good replacement for Foster if we have to sell him.
