This Summer Is Going To Be Very Interesting

It's always exciting to see a new set of players come in and join in on our joys and sorrows and I think this summer there will be a lot of changes

Who out of our current squad will stay and help us bounce back straight away?

Who will join and enhance this squad?

Will our youth players have a part to play?

We keep the backbone of the team and we can do what Newcastle did and come straight back up

GK

Foster
Taylor
Doyle
Butland

Foster has said he will stay and I hope he does. However, if the right offer comes in we may have to sell and look elsewhere. Maybe Colin Doyle will take the No 1.

Not too sure what will be come of Taylor, but I can't see him being involved next season.

DF

Johnson
Dann
Ridgewell
Carr
Davies
Jiranek
Parnaby
Murphy

We all know there is a lot of interest in Dann and Johnson, I'm hoping at least one of them will stay. However, if a top 8 team come in for them and the price is right, I think we will sell.

Jiranek will be off. Back to Europe for him. Not sure if Stevie Carr will stick around for another season or retire. Time will tell.

I think the rest will stay and to be honest its quite a good defence for the Championship.

MF

Hleb
Bentley
Larsson
Bowyer
Gardner
Ferguson
Beausejour
Mcfadden
Fahey
Mutch
Valles
Redmond

First of all Hleb and Bentley will go back to there parent clubs. Larsson is off on a free.

Bowyer has said he will base his future on first team football. With Europe, League and domestic cup, I'm sure he will get games. Same for Ferguson, but I think he will stay.

Mcfadden may be off, but he has been out for a year so not sure how much interest he will get. His experience would be useful in the Championship.

Fahey is a good champonship player, Beausejour could be great with a good run of games.

Then we've got Mutch, who I think will play a big part next season. Redmond may be involved, but he shouldn't be rushed.

ST

Martins
Derbyshire
Zigic
Jerome
Phillips
Asante

Martins, thanks for the CC goal. Derbyshire, thanks for.....er........um.....goodbye.
Both of them back to their parent clubs.

I expect Zigic to go back to Spain.

Jerome may be off, Blackburn always seem to show interest. Not bothered if he stays or goes, he can do us a job in the Championship.

I hope Phillips stays, but not sure how much football we can offer him.

Asante, same as redmond, get him involved give him a chance but don't rush him.

This leaves our team looking like.

..............................Foster/Doyle..............................

Carr/Parnaby.........Davies.......Ridgewell..........Murphy

Fahey/Redmond......Gardner/Fergie.....Mutch/Bowyer......Beausejour/Fadds

....................Jerome..................Philips/Asante

Its not a bad team to be fair, but we obviously need more quality and quantity.

Should we really be playing Phillips, I think we need to get a set of fresh legs in. Plus I think Phillips will retire.

Johnson, Jiranek, Larsson and Zigic are the only four for me who are 100% defiantly going

Unsure on a few though including Foster, Dann , McFadden , Ferguson and Jerome

Excited to see Mutch, Redmond and Asante next season though, I'm sure they will impress

We defiantly need a few strikers

The definites are the same as me, I think Bowyer's going to go to QPR though.

Then im unsure on Dann, Foster, Jerome, Phillips, McFadden and Ferguson.

But a basic team before signings, that looked something like this, wouldnt be all bad :

Foster
Carr -- Davies -- Ridgewell -- Murphy
Redmond -- Gardner -- Mutch -- Beausejour
Nobody -- Asante

Then a bit of upgrading, say, a young understudy RB (Clyne would be ideal, if not, Naughton from Spurs), a proper left back maybe aswell (Van Aanholt from Chelsea on loan), a new right winger (Chris Eagles would be good), maybe a couple more bodies in central midfield, if Bowyer and Ferguson do leave (Pratley? Hell, even Darren Carter, just to boost numbers) and then up top, I seriously think we should bring Yakubu in, proven goalscorer if he stays fit... and also Mackail-Smith from Peterborough, and if he's up for a spell in the Championship, back with us, Forssell on a bosman.

Team like :

Foster
Carr -- Davies -- Ridgewell -- Van Aanholt
Eagles -- Gardner -- Mutch -- Beausejour
Yakubu -- Mackail-Smith

It all depends on who stays and goes

The one thing i would like to see is our transfers get done quickly,
Get the players in as fast as possible, lets have them all in place BEFORE pre season,
The season starts early so lets not see the usual faffing about like other years.
Alex should have all his targets in place,he must have planned for relegation as well.

Of all the Championship sides, we have to be the most attractive to join. The prospect of European football (albeit not being a major priority), playing under a manager and alongside players of a high calibre surely means that providing we can meet wage demands and sell the right players to fund spending, we should be able to cherry pick the best of the crop. And incoming loanees from the PL would want to be here too.

I was saying last night that we are now in an easier position for signing players, yes they may not be as good as if we stayed up but we should be able to pick up some useful players,
There are lots of good young hungry players out there, next season is going to be very busy game wise so we cannot carry too many old legs, the squad will have to have a young look.

Absolutely Gutted we were relegated but i have every confidence that we can bounce back at the first time of asking. If we can keep a good nucleus of the players here and add some youth, pace and quality i want us to go up as champions!!!!! This should be the next challenge to the players and staff of BCFC.

Transfer targets will be dictated by who stays and who goes imho i think we should retain Foster, Dann, Johnson, Gardner Ferguson, Jerome, Davies, Carr, Ridgewell, Fahey, Beausejour, Michel(think he should be given a crack in the championship) and the young players coming through should be given more game time i.e the likes of Redmond, Mutch and Asante maybe even Butland. Everyone else i think will be let go or find themselves surplus to requirements. I cant see Zigic being kept on £50,000 a wk in the Championship.

Players i would like us to go for:

DF: (right Back options) Nathan Clyne £2m, Kyle Naughton (loan from Spurs)
DF: (Left Back options) Ryan Bertrand, Pat Van Aanholt (both Chelsea)
MF: Burke(Cardiff Free) Pratley(Swansea Free), Johnson(Leeds Free) Dos santos(Loan off Spurs), Jonjo Shelvey(loan off Liverpool), Gera (free Fulham)
Strikers: Danny Graham (Watford £3M), Fabio Borini (Chelsea Free) Yakubu (Everton £2m), Fuller (Stoke Free)

Note not all of the above are expected to be signed but are the type of calibre of player we should be looking to attract to us with a mix of youth and experience KRO :kro:

Foster / Doyle
I think we'll be able to keep hold of Foster, he's living close to his family, we have several years on his contract so we'll expect big money for a transfer. I also think McLeish feels a solid keeper is the key to a solid team.

------ / Carr
I think offering Carr a one year deal is essential, he doesn't stike me as the type who will accept his last game being relegation, however it's essential to get younger blood in ahead of him

Davies + Ridgewell / ------ + ------
Reality strikes. We need to raise funds from somewhere and I think realistically the only players we have of any value are Foster, Dann and Johnson. For me Dann's the better player, and I think teams will recognise that and will despite his injury offer good money, and Johnson I'm certain will go, and I think he's not really worth worrying about. However I think Davies and Ridgewell, can form a partnership, and will be more than adequate and as such we'll get some back ups in from elsewhere

------ / Murphy
Again, for me, it's essential to get in younger blood and pace at full back, and I think we will, but we'll keep Murphy as back up

------ / Redmond
I can't see a better opportunity to get Redmond into the fold, however we need a regular starter in front of him

Gardner + Mutch / Fahey + Ferguson
Gardner's our talisman and essential to keep hold of, he's our Steven Gerrard, and for me, should be made captain his passion and fire will be the key factor in promotion. Mutch had a fantastic start to the season with Watford, and will offer balance to Gardner without us being over defensive and it's key to bring him into our first team and develop him into a key player which he's capable of. However, keeping Fergie to help his development, and to bring on as a calm head to take games by the scruff of the neck when we need him.

Beausejour / -------
Problem left mid position, I'd want to keep McFadden, but it seems he's on his way, we need cover for Beausejour, but he could be fantastic in the championship

------ + ------- / Jerome + Asante
If Asante is ready he should start to be blooded but we need two new strikers, Phillips should be left to go on his way and we need to have first choices ahead of Jerome, there's no way we'll be paying Zigic's £50k a week.

"Hungry" is the key word you used. It's no use bringing in talented fancy dan types ( Hleb, Bentley etc) who are very skillful, but don't want to be here ( Hleb even had the cheek to say so ). They **** about in training and like to relax in the treatment room a lot.
A.M. did well getting Dann and Johnson who have shown the desire to improve. There must be more of them around.

Like your thinking.

I can see Zigic staying, his contract will almost certainly contain a clause requiring him to take a drop in pay. He still needs time to adjust to British football and his relationship with McLeish could be crucial.

Personally, I would let Jerome go, he probably needs a fresh challenge and I think too many fans have lost patience with him (rightly or wrongly).

We need to bring in more power as well as more pace. I would like to see someone with physical presence added to midfield (someone similar to Papa Bouba diop - not sure who that would be though!). Quicker players needed up front, preferably young and with an eye for goal. Unfortunately, there aren't many of those around, perhaps we need to try proven scorers from lower divisions, like Mackail Smith?

I've got a feeling that Beausejour will be our Taarabt in the Championship. I think this is also a great opportunity to play Redmond, Asante, Mutch.. Jervis? (Whats happened to him?) which if/when we get promoted a full season of 'the most competitive league in the world' (words of a Cardiff fan mate) under their belts could bode well for them. **thumbup

I said a few weeks ago on Twitter that if Blues go down, then Redmond is the new Taarabt. As long as one of them is I'll be happy.

Anyone think McLeish will go back In for Kris Boyd? Because I do....

Not that I'd particually want him here, was pretty decent at Forest getting 6 goals In 10 appearences I think but hasn't done anything big for Middlesbrough at all really....

What you think?
