Carr and Philips will get renewed contracts, albeit on Championship wages.

Derbyshire will go, he doesn't add anything to the squad, not the worst player in the world, but lacks pace. Bowyer will go as he will get a better contract elsewhere (possibly QPR)

I do think we'll raise £15-20 million on players out, but think McLeish will get £5 million as we will have to cover losses from relegation, reduced income on the gates and fees for renewing contracts.

The wage bill will be lower, but I still don't think that gives us much for the transfer market. We will need 5 or 6 players just to top up the squad, expect to see young loanee's from Premiership clubs bolstering numbers.

"Sir Alex, this is young Alex here, I'm in a spot of bother and really need a favour...."

I think Dann will stay till January like Upson did. Johnson is already halfway out the door IMO as is Larsson, the loanees and Stoke or someone will come in for Jerome.

If the Board have any money and ambition we need to hold onto Foster unless we get a stupid bid; he's said he's happy and wants to play for the club - these are the characters we NEED in the squad.

....................................Foster / Doyle ....................................

............. Carr/Clyne... Dann ... Davies .... Ridgewell .............

Redmond ......... Gardner ....... Mutch/Fahey .......... Beausejour

............................ Asante/Phillips ... McFadden ..................

disagree with your team antoinette, we need wingers who have pace and can beat a man, not another year of fahey LM. Gardner will score buckets from CM with worse defences and keepers IMO.

Will we keep Zigic? will anyone want him for a price that's worth accepting?

In his post match interview Alex McLeish has already eluded to the fact that many players have "options"... probably meaning relegation release clauses.

I think its worth mentioning that in the Championship Fahey will be first name on McLeish's team sheet every week.

That's not having a go at McLeish or Fahey, but the player is to the Manager what Damien Johnson was to Bruce.

No, not a love child!! ;)

Fahey is good in the Champ so this doesn't bother me.

But we do need to sign a lot of players next year.

Ridgewell, Davies, don't know about full backs

But

Mutch, Fergie, Gardner. Beau, Fahey is a very strong midfielf for the Championship.

A wide right player required

2 good forwards needed

Fahey was actually one of our best players in the championship.

If he goes i reckon it will be in January that's if he can keep himself fit whilst playing well of course, with the amount of money we would want for him i doubt anyone will be willing to pay it whilst he is injured.

Like I said, I wasn't knocking him.

I personally think Fahey is a decent Championship player, but he needs to be used to his strength, not told to do a defensive job which stops him getting forward.

I just think he will be a sure starter under McLeish

Foster / Doyle
I think we'll be able to keep hold of Foster, he's living close to his family, we have several years on his contract so we'll expect big money for a transfer. I also think McLeish feels a solid keeper is the key to a solid team.

------ / Carr
I think offering Carr a one year deal is essential, he doesn't stike me as the type who will accept his last game being relegation, however it's essential to get younger blood in ahead of him

Davies + Ridgewell / ------ + ------
Reality strikes. We need to raise funds from somewhere and I think realistically the only players we have of any value are Foster, Dann and Johnson. For me Dann's the better player, and I think teams will recognise that and will despite his injury offer good money, and Johnson I'm certain will go, and I think he's not really worth worrying about. However I think Davies and Ridgewell, can form a partnership, and will be more than adequate and as such we'll get some back ups in from elsewhere

------ / Murphy
Again, for me, it's essential to get in younger blood and pace at full back, and I think we will, but we'll keep Murphy as back up

------ / Redmond
I can't see a better opportunity to get Redmond into the fold, however we need a regular starter in front of him

Gardner + Mutch / Fahey + Ferguson
Gardner's our talisman and essential to keep hold of, he's our Steven Gerrard, and for me, should be made captain his passion and fire will be the key factor in promotion. Mutch had a fantastic start to the season with Watford, and will offer balance to Gardner without us being over defensive and it's key to bring him into our first team and develop him into a key player which he's capable of. However, keeping Fergie to help his development, and to bring on as a calm head to take games by the scruff of the neck when we need him.

Beausejour / -------
Problem left mid position, I'd want to keep McFadden, but it seems he's on his way, we need cover for Beausejour, but he could be fantastic in the championship

------ + ------- / Jerome + Asante
If Asante is ready he should start to be blooded but we need two new strikers, Phillips should be left to go on his way and we need to have first choices ahead of Jerome, there's no way we'll be paying Zigic's £50k a week.

Agree with that immensely, although have a feeling we'll be seeing the back of Jerome and Ferguson.

However, fill those gaps with..

RB - Nathaniel Clyne (permanent - Crystal Palace)/Kyle Naughton (permanent/loan - Spurs)
CB - Luke Chambers (permanent - Nottm Forest)
CB - Jeffrey Bruma (loan - Chelsea)/Danny Wilson (loan - Liverpool)
LB - Patrick Van Aanholt (loan - Chelsea)/Ryan Bertrand (loan - Chelsea)
RM - Eagles (permanent - Burnley)
LM - Gradel (permanent - Leeds)/Keith Treacy (permanent - Preston)
ST - Yakubu (permanent - Everton)
ST - Mackail Smith (permanent - Peterborough)

Id also look at bringing in a much improved Neil Danns, who knows the league, and scores goals, who is on a bosman, and the likes of Bradley Johnson, Darren Pratley and Kieran Westwood fall into that category too.

Not bad choices all round, although those strikers don't fill me with toooooo much confidence, but I could be proven wrong.

If Johnson and Dann both go then I'd bring back Krystian Pearce as backup. He's been arguably one of the best players in League 1 for Notts County. However would he come back after the way we treated him?
