I know his contract is up, but have we got an option in our favour? Or have we lost that now we're relegated?

What I'm basically getting at is can he walk away on a bosman, or can we force him in to another year and potentially get a few quid for him?

Who'd have thought that Liverpool game would be his last performance for us. Missed him massively this season.

The club did not use the option, he has notified the club he is leaving.

In that case thanks for not much, Fads.

We have a year option, and if his wages arent silly them we need to take it. Even if it means selling him for a couple of million, that couple of million might let us keep hold of Foster/ Dann/ Gardner for another year.

If he stays, he will be valuable experience + creativity, which we have vastly missed this season. When Jerome has Zigic go he will be the best striker left at the club along with KP

I think you'll find that many of the 'options' include relegation release clauses. We could well see a mass exodus over the summer!

This might be complete coincidence but Mcfaddens house in Solihull was up for sale a few months back. Maybe he knew he was going to leave. I hope he doesn't but would much rather we try and hold on to Dann, Johnson, Ferguson, Gardner and Ziggy

Tricky. Probably high wages and may not get that much play because of the injury. Equally, we may get very little for him in transfer fee for the same reason.

If the wages are considered too high, do you take a gamble and keep him - play him to prove his fitness and form, and then sell, but risking that the injuries do come back and we are lumbered with a year's wages for no play.

And even if he did recover from injury, if he was playing well then there would be a lot of upset if we then sold him.

Rock and a hard place.

I spoke to James.

The club had a two year option towards him. On deadline day for the option they said that they cant offer him two years but offered one. James declined and is leaving.

He seems to have spent most of time at Blues in the treatment room so I don't suppose he'll be missed by many. Thanks for your loyalty, Fads.

I find it staggering that we'd only offer him a one year deal, especially considering his close relationship with McLeish.

I've always thought he was overrated anyway, no pace, doesn't score goals, dodgy knees. We got more out of the last sicknote David Dunn than we did McFadden, what a waste of time/money.

Agreed,

A very poor season in the championship last time round we could get 3 championship players on that money who want to be here.

A lot have said we missed him this year NO , what we missed was an effective left sided player, Beausjour will be that player if he stays and will become a better player by playing games in this country.

Beausejour is younger faster and getting better every game. I would like McFadden purely as we are lacking in forwards

That is totally untrue. His wife is called Gillian Hunter. Total BS, why even come out with garbage like that?

We have missed Mcfadden's influence recently

I read on here quite awhile back that his home in Solihull has been up for sale for some time

I have no idea if this has any bearing on whether he's leaving though

This is all news to me....I thought we could add the one year option to his contract anyway ....I thought the club had the power to use that oprion if they choose to.....not the player

paid his sick pay all this season , and lots of sick pay since day one, injury prone like dunn, you watch him leave and have a great injury free season for someone else,
to me he owes us big time ,at least a season, but i am a bluenose , and he is a mercenary ! so bye
