I think its a good thing to have stated this immediately as it stops rumours and conjecture.

I hope the board realise that if the football is negative that it a) disenfranchises supporters B) stifles attempts to bring in new support c) is only a short-term fix

I hope Mcleish realises this, he has shown in cup games that when he wants to he can get teams to play more attacking football, now he has to do this over a season.

what a joke..

unless AM changes his tactics and actually attack and try and score goals he will have no fans left next season and know one will go.

I hope the board read this as mark my words you have been warned.

This is your chance to make a clean sweep and you can't even do this properly...

I hope he proves me wrong...but i very much doubt it...

pity it wasnt this season, all the part timers who wanted tickets for wembley.

Not going to another game or giving the club any of my money whilst this clown Is still In charge......

Confirms to me that we are In a dire financial situation....... We obviously can't afford to sack him.....

I see very, very bad times ahead....

So you're reasoning for seeing bad financial and playing times ahead under Eck is to purposefully boycott your club and any monetary and morale support you could give them by turning up to games? Unbelievable.

Not boycotting because of money problems.... Am boycotting because the manager Is useless..... 2 relegations In 3.5 years! Good enough? Not by a long way.......

No I understand what you meant mate - you don't think McLeish is good enough, I'm not sure what I feel yet but regardless it looks like we're stuck with him for now.

I just don't see how you think boycotting games is going to help? If every fan that was upset with being relegated and/or with McLeish decided to do the same our beloved club definitely would fold due to the lost support! I would love to still live in Birmingham so I could go regularly again but being in Liverpool and at Uni it's hard to go to every game but I still try to go to as many as I can.

Surely opting to stick with us through thick or thin is the nobler option mate? If you're right about our finances too then we need all the help and home support we can get!

No offence, but I think you're just being a bit selfish mate. I hope you change your mind and will see you at games next season.

Not being funny, but they have said that they won't sack him, which i think was common knowledge as it would require a big pay off and Eck clearly wants to get us back up and right the wrongs of this season.

If West Ham offered 3 million for Mcleish, would the board accept? It would give them the opportunity to bring their own man in, and an extra 3 million pounds to go towards the club. Given the speculation and interest from DG and DS, i think this is the more likely question that needs answering IMO

Tell me why I should pay to watch an Inmcompetant manager demand that our team attempt to defend a 1-0 lead against Brighton for 85 minutes?

He has absalutley no Interest In attacking what so ever.... We will struggle big time In the Championship with this fool In charge...

But it was okay for you to go and watch him try to defend a 1-0 lead say against Bolton in the Premiership? I understand your frustration mate but we need all the support we can get this coming season! Regardless of where we are or who's in charge I want to give my club all the support I can - because it's my club!

going to get my season ticket tomorrow

just been looking at the championship table and getting a bit excited at some of the away games to come ;)

I've been doing the same but with all the clubs who have qualified for the Europa, going to be a massive rush for flights after that draw. Promises to be a cracker!!

Well looking at the Championship table for this year promotion means scoring between 70 & 80 goals for automatic and a minimum of 69 for a play-off place given that for the last 2 season we haven't even managed a goal a game in the league there's going to have to one hell of a change of attitude.

Oh and last time in the Championship we scored just 54 goals in 46 games and got promoted because we conceded just 37.

So in 3 years we played 122 games with just 129 goals - Conceding 142 so a net goal difference of -13.

And this is the man to take us back up?

Yes, official statement on the main club website now. McLeish's job is safe

(Well, it does say as long as we're promoted next season!)

and that's the key if he gets us promoted

The board realise that money will have to be made available in order to ensure this

that, or they realise we have to hang on to the likes of Foster and Dann. If come September we still have Foster Dann and Davies, along with Gardner and Beausejour and a couple of decent strikers i can see us being in the top 3 for the whole season pretty much

I read some of these sort of 'don't panic' threads a little while ago. There was guys coming on here regularly and telling us all not to worry because Big Eck had everything under control and I thought then we'd be punished for hubris and here we are again the very day after relegation we have yet another post urging us to be calm. Some people never learn it seems.

Ok, if we can't afford to fire him on Championship income, let him get us promoted using the same gut-wrenching style he used before, then fire him and replace with a creative manager when we're back in the top flight.

Or let his contract run down....if the worst happens...

If your boss wants you to improve productivity they have to give you the necessary tools to achieve the target/s.

I'm quite excited to be fair and the news has cheared me up a bit

Still can't make my mind about McLeish, but we need to start the Championship running at full speed, I reckon the season starts 10 weeks this Saturday. I'm prepared to see what happens during the first say 10 games. If we're not doing the business then change him then.

Some say "in alex we trust". You trust in relegation, boring football, least goals scored in a season and he wants to hang onto the oap's who can't run anymore.

As someone else said,"grow a spine". We need a new manager
