Phillips keeping all options open but says he is more or less of to another club or media work. Phillips also commented the Blues players in the team who are in there late 20's wish to stay in the Premier. |

Yeah he named RJ and Ridgewell if i heard it right. He also said that he doesnt see much coming through the youth system that are good enough - didnt sound very promising to be honest. He said he thinks McLeish is the man to bring us back up though. |

I think we'd simply have to sell those 2 to sure up the finances. If we could keep Foster, that's as long as he still wants to stay, then he could be the difference in gaining promotion. Ridgwell and Davies at the centre would work in the championship. |

If Ridgewell wants to stay in the premier then he'd have to play at left-back for someone, because in the Prem, he's a liability at centre back. |

If McLeish, Pannu and Yeung know anything about the fans and understand how they're feeling, they would NOT sell Foster to Villa at all. That would seriously take the biscuit. If he needs to be sold then to someone else, just not those lot. |

Looking through the squad, it seems to include Johnson (expected) and Ridgewell (less so, but he'll be error prone even in the Championship). It also would include Foster but he's made that statement. **thumbup Zigic is 30. I really hope he stays. |

Fully fit Zigic would cause less panic in the Championship than the Prem. Championship defenders seem happier with the ball in the air than on the ground. Would still love him in the squad mind assuming he takes a slight pay cut. Can't see who would want Ridge, he never gets much attention so thats a surprise. RJ is old news and i hope to god we keep Dann and Foster Would love to see this interview, looks like it's one of those "superkev reveals all" kind of articles |

I'll actually have a bit of sympathy for any PL club that sign either of those two
Well, for someone who strolled around against Fulham for 90 minutes without a care in the world then I'd rather have any of our young strikers in the side than him next season I think Mutch, Asante and Redmond in particular will thrive next season....As long as the senior players will go out of their way and give them all some protection and advice on the field .....and this is where I am also critical of Alex McLeish ....he does need to give youth a decent chance in the side more often......O'Neill and even Houllier to an extent did it at Villa Off to Huddersfield or Leicester or go and get a job at Sky Sports , Mr Phillips......Thanks for your goals but you're way past our level now ......we need more passion KRO |

I'm sure Dann and Johnson will go, Zigic because of his wages, didn't think Ridgewell would jump ship but you can't blame him, Stoke will probably move for Jerome, Foster I can see Spurs putting a bid in....to be far apart from Carr I can see most of the out of contracts off from Phillips to McFadden also. |

Just had a quick look at the current squad, this is what I think might happen... 1 Maik Taylor............Out of contract will go. 2 Stephen Carr...........I think will re-sign. 3 David Murphy..........Out of contract, might get another year. 4 Lee Bowyer.............Will go. 5 Roger Johnson.........Sold. 6 Liam Ridgewell...........Sold if he wants to go. 7 Sebastian Larsson.........Gone. 8 Craig Gardner............Should stay. 9 Kevin Phillips.............Will go. 10 Cameron Jerome...........Sold if the right offer comes in. 11 David Bentley........Gone. 12 Barry Ferguson.......Might stay because of Eck, but I can see him gone. 13 Colin Doyle............Out of contract will go. 14 Matt Derbyshire............Gone. 15 Scott Dann ............Will be sold to big club. 16 James McFadden.........Out of contract, might stay because of Eck. 17 Obafemi Martins...........Gone. 18 Keith Fahey..............Will stay. 19 Nikola Zigic.............Sold because of wages. 20 Enric Valles..............Out of contract, will go. 21 Stuart Parnaby......Out of contract, might get another year. 22 Alexander Hleb.......Gone. 23 Jean Beausejour .......Will stay. 24 James O'Shea......Out of contract a think, prob be let go. 25 Jordon Mutch........Will stay 26 Ben Foster...............Will go for a big offer. 27 Nathan Redmond.....Might go on loan. 28 Martin Jiranek......Out of contract will go. 30 Akwasi Asante......Might go on loan. 31 Fraser Kerr...........Will stay. 32 Curtis Davies.........Will stay. 33 Alpaslan Ozturk......Stay. 34 Jack Butland...........Stay. 35 Robin Shroot...........Released. Why does that leave us????? |

Im sorry but mutch was solid in the championship for watford i watched him a few times and thats one of the reasons why watford were up there at the beginning. Plus from what weve seen of redmond he has talent, why not give him a go for once. |

Something like this perhaps and I've gone on most plausible worst case scenario as will not/cannot afford to lose everyone... GK: Foster or Taylor/Doyle/Butland (if Foster leaves: will not lose all four). RB: Carr/Parnaby/New Player CB: Davies/Ridgewell CB: Dann (untill Jan because of injury)/Ridgewell (doubt much interest)/New Player. LB: Ridgewell/Murphy/New Player RM: Redmond/Beausejour/New Player CM: Gardner/Fahey CM: Ferguson/Mutch LM: Beasejour/McFadden (depends on loyalty to McLeish)/New Player ST: Jerome (depends on interest)/New Player/Asante ST: McFadden/Zigic (same as Jerome)/New Player with me being undecided about Valles and Michel. So that's at most 7 first team additions? And for the rest of the squad not all out of contracts will leave but most will. Maybe some squad additions. All depends on how desperate players are to leave and how much money we need in letting them go - remember that just because a player wants to go does not mean the club will let him if they can't get a replacement. Can see us having to rely more on youth - which with the likes of Mutch and Redmond isn't a bad thing :), and maybe a few loans. It's not the End. |

mcleish has said we need to hang on to quality if we're gonna go up, then the board said they want mcleish to stay and take us up. to me, that means we wont sell ALL of Dann, Foster and Johnson IMO: Foster Carr/Clyne Davies NEW CB Ridge/Murphy Redmond/ NEW RM Gardner Mutch/Fahey Beausejour 2 new strikers, jerome might stay, zigic might not get any offers its fairly obvious we're going to have a big clear out, just hope we can keep most of the spine together |

You would like to think so, but like Foster said he would like to stay but if the right offer comes in then he might have to move. The out of contract players I think will be sorted one way or the other in the next week. |

Birmingham’s future following relegation from the Premier League. The Blues failed to beat the drop after picking up just four points from their last seven league games, including a heartbreaking last-minute defeat to Tottenham on the final day of the season. And Phillips is worried that there may be an exodus of top class players from the club this summer as many of the senior players in the side want to continue playing top-flight football. “ Part of me fears that they could lose eight or nine players. There could be up to ten players leaving the club. ” He told Drive Time: “A part of me fears for Birmingham because there is a lot of players in that dressing room of a certain age, 28 or 29, who want to stay in the Premier League. It’s only natural, so part of me fears that they could lose eight or nine players. There could be up to ten players leaving the club. “And it’s whether they can replace them with the quality that’s going to get them back into the Premier League because of the young players coming through at Birmingham I don’t see an awful lot there. There is maybe two, three or four [that could make it]. The players getting produced there is not great. “But they’ve certainly got a manager in place who can get the best out of their players and hopefully he’ll do that.” Phillips added that despite relegation he still feels it will go down as a fantastic season for Birmingham City. He continued: “Naturally we’re all disappointed and from a personal side I’ve experienced this three times now and believe me it’s not nice. “But we can take something out of this season, we won the Carling Cup and that doesn’t happen very often. Certainly for Birmingham City, so in that sense it’s been a fantastic season.” http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/foo...future%E2%80%99 |
