I've analysed this a lot and I think sometimes it's all too easy to get bogged down with arguments that get more complicated than the question warrants.

I honestly don't know if he is a good or bad manager but I think the problem lies in the fact that:

He plays to not lose instead of go out and win. All the negativity stems from that fear of losing including the ugly football tag and lack of goals. Of course it's a balance as Blackpool found out to their detriment.

What's needed is a radical overhaul. If, as it seems, we are keeping AM then he needs to take a long hard look at his philosophy because if he thinks that it will get him out of the Championship he is very much mistaken.

Defence is not the best from of Attack but Attack is the best form of Defence. He needs the Boards support to get the right players to undertake that challenge and who knows we might even start to see some attractive football, some goals and some success.

Over 60% of the people on here support him, and from my experience this forum is more anti-Eck than most blues fans i meet.

My worry isn't Mcleish, its the players we may or may not lose. There are 2 ways to look at this:

- you can say that as mcleish has stated we need to keep the quality if we are to go up, and the board have confirmed his position, that means that we will try and keep our best players (Foster, Gardner etc)

- mcleish is a defensive manager and is good at keeping things tight and winning scrappy. we have no funds for decent attackers, so will cash in on a couple of players to keep us going and hope Eck can defend his way to promotion

Why should he change philosophy? He got out of the Championship doing exactly the same as now.If i remeber correctly i believe Norwich went down and managed more goals than us.Does that make him good or bad i dont know.It does make us boring to watch though.

I think it's more complex than being 'good' or 'bad'.

It's whether you believe the 'bad' isn't really so bad, and how good you think the 'good' is...like in any relationship :)
