It makes my blood boil when I see how much discussion there is about finances. I'm not one of these people who really cares about diving, feigning injury, waving imaginary cards, goal line technology, because thats all ON the pitch stuff. But why does relegation have to have such big financial implications where it gets to the stage where people are talking about will we go out of business? We should just be relegated and have to get rid of players because they want to leave (to further there careers, because they don't want to play Championship football ETC) not because we have to sell them to raise money. I've defended the board ever since they came here, and I'm pleased that they made a swift decision on McLeish, to stop rumors from flying around for weeks. But they really need to issue a proper statement about the clubs finances now we've been relegated. They released one the other day but it looked like it was talking about if we're in the Premier League next season. We as supporters who will be here longer than any managers, players, owners ETC, deserve to know what the future holds for our football team. For the record I don't think we'll be getting points docked and be threatened with going bust because that hasn't even happened to Portsmouth this season and surely they were in a situation 10x worse than ourselves. But we NEED a statement of some sort about finances now we've come down. I obviously dread if its bad news, but at least we'll know the truth. |

Until they release the evidence the media will have a field day about it. The fans deserve to know, the manager and players deserve to know. If they are as bad as speculated, nothing will change, the media will still claim we are bankrupt and we will still lose the same players we were going to (albeit at a lower price if we are truly in the !"£$). But the fans will be able to understand and be more realistic with our expectations. There is no points telling us they expect promotion if we don't have the finances available to achieve that. It is false hope, kicking fans while they are down. If finances ARE stable, the BEST THING they can do for this club is to release them into public domain. This club NEEDS a massive lift after the !"£$ we've been through these last 2 weeks, and knowing that the media are wrong, knowing we are able to hang onto star players and knowing we can launch a proper promotion push will do wonders to ease to pain and anxiety around the club. From what KP said, the players don't know, they believe the media that there are problems, so why would they want to stay. If the board put this to bed then we have a far greater chance of keeping them. For the good of the club, let the fans know. After the season we've been through, after the support we have given we DESERVE to know the truth. |

Interesting on Jiranek, it says he was offered the extra year on his contract but he decided not to take it, because I guess the offers he's getting from Russia are more and he doesn't want to play in Premier League. What I'm trying to say is if finances were "dire" as some media sources are reporting, then we'd be looking to slash the wage bill as much as possible and players like Jiranek who are the wrong side of 30 and lets face it wasn't exactly a key player would be one of the first to be told to leave. Surely we wouldn't even think about offering to take up the option on his contract which is probably not the lowest paid contract at the club and we'd be wanting to get rid ASAP. |

theres too many things that can be read into on too many levels. The board need to come clean Eg Mcleish, you could read into it so many ways: - After he said he would take blues up if we keep our quality players, the board accept that and are giving him the chance, so we will keep our better players or - The board can't afford to keep dann johnson and foster but mcleish knows how to pick a cheap defender to replace them and will be the best man to defend our way to promotion since we can't afford to buy any attacking talent or - They want to pressurise West Ham into early action to take him off our hands AND pay compensation that can pay off some of the debt or - They would rather save the money from sacking mcleish to help us keep one of foster, dann and johnson or - Our finances are secure and we should be getting instant promotion and after the cup win they see mcleish as the man who will lead us to trophies long term madness. COME CLEAN |
