More like a victim of a few fickle "I demand success now" supporters

Plus a victim of expectatations set way too high at a club like Blues

Rubbish. As Eck said it was his squad of players, he brought them, his tactics hence its his fault. End of story.

The only victims are the fans and 30m odd down the drain on players. He should have done better.

Prawnman why don't you take the cup pic off them if your not proud of the mans achievement after all if it's his fault we were relegated it's his doing that won us the cup.

Also his doing got us to Europe. Also his doing we got our highest ever finish. Also his doing we were promoted 1st time after the mess left by bruce.......but yeah sack him and well stay in the championship for a decade or two again.

A victim of his own tactics. Played defensively but without the defence being solid.

I think Alex and his coaching staff need to sit down and reflect back ,not just on the last few weeks but way before that ,and ask themselfes this one question,

Did We Get the Best Out Of The Squad Available,

My view is the squad was used very poorly,we had the players there to be comfortable in that league,
So bact to the question.

His main fault is that he kept the same tactics even when they were failing us. When the defence started performing badly he should have looked to change our approach and to try and remedy the situation. He did nothing and stuck with the same defensive approach which due to our increasingly leaky defence led us to the Championship.

He was in some ways of victim of his success, the defensive formation that he used achieved a lot for us so he continued to rely on it even when it was obviously failing us.

I don't disagree with you, for all the praise that was thrown at him at the team for winning the cup, equally he is as responsible for getting us relegated. I just look at the facts.

He only won eight games in the league. lowest goal scorers , least shots on goals, most money spent of all the teams around us. You can't say there is not something seriously wrong there?

Where did I say sack him? I didn't, but he needs to seriously address where it went wrong because its pretty obvious where it did. He is responsible for us getting relegated as much as he responsible for the cup win and Europe.

Well fair comments!!

I agree if he takes all praise he must take failings aswel

Things do need to be addressed down the blues but I feel for the bloke also he's never had a real striker to work with and people may say he was backed but in our heart of hearts we all know you can't by perm quality for under ten million or if so it's a diamond in the rough. Fair play to baggies for Peter o as he is a diamond but there aren't many around and seems when one pops up the blues don't get him.

The main thing missing is goals goals goals and when that's addressed we can move forward.

I think Prawnman is correct, if McLeish was to acknowledge for the cup then he was equally at fault for relegation.

In two cup games McLeish showed more attacking tactics than in the rest of the season. I agree that the relegation wasn't all Mcleish, not getting his top transfer targets and injuries played a part, but just a factor was the over-negative tactics and the failure to change things quickly. We've all been at games and seeing McLeish's plan unravel wondering when he would make that substitution, only to see the subs static on the bench.

I don't think Blues fans 'want success now', but I think a lot of people could see from the start of the season the inherent dangers and the shocking number of goals and wins this season is testament to that.

Nonsense, Parti. Some of us would prefer to see a little football now and then even if it meant staying in the Championship. If the stuff McLeish is serving up right is construed as 'success' then I'll take failure any time.
Alex McLeish is an abject and persistent loser who refuses to do the decent thing.

A victim of his own success?

If two relegations and boring football is what you call success then your right.

On the other hand if the luck of the draw in every round of a cup competition is what you call success then you're right.

McLiesh does have failings and those are in attacking and he is slow to make a change when things are not going our way. However his strenght in defense and producing a team that ishard to beat is impressive.

Now I believe that given the right backroom staff he can over come he's failings and take us to a top ten side, regularily getting into europe and winning cups.

Drawing Villa, Westham and Arsenal on the way to winning the cup is hardly luck is it. I’m on the fence with regards to him staying but that statement is just rubbish.

How much is down to his coaches? Do they just pass on AM's instructions or do they bring their own ideas to the table? A few on here have said it started to go downhill when Grant took over from Aitken, but if you look at results it started to go wrong before that. Ther latter half of the 09/10 season was as bad as we've seen during 10/11.
