People are saying we will lose loads of players and we need to get in at least 10+ new players, and they say they are worried because of this. When we went down in 2006 the team totally changed, we bought a lot of players and it was a brand new team , Larsson, Bendtner, Muamba,Kelly,Mcsheffrey, Jaidi, Ngotty, Jerome, Danns were bought and we went up. The same is going to have to happen again this time around. |

Steve Bruce was in charge then, coupled with the fact of the special relationship between KB/DG and David Dein of Arsenal - which is how we got the 3 Arsenal youngsters. |

Unfortunately, following that season Bruce was given no money to spend in the summer transfer window. He had to replace the people who had moved on, or who we had on loan but had no money. We missed a great opportunity and the board let Steve Bruce down big time because they were looking to sell the club. McLeish was also not given sufficient funds in the January window, with the result that we went straight back down again. Now, should McLeish do what Bruce did, and bring us straight back up, the same MUST NOT be allowed to happen again. When a club gets promoted it must be prepared for life in a higher division by allowing the manager money to change a Championship winning team into a Premier League team. Hopefully, Carson Yeung will not make the mistakes of the previous board. |

Bruce was given money when we were promoted in 2007 .....That is why Sullivan went public and described some of the imports as rubbish (which wasn't very smart for an owner to do) ......Ridgewell, Quedrue, O'Connor, Kingson, Schmitz etc
Blacksmith......Alex already has already equalled the feat ....in 2008/09 and he was given much less financial support than Bruce .......He now has to do it a second time |

Bruce was given next to nothing in the transfer window, but I'm not prepared to argue the point because it's just not worth it. |

Totally agree. This is a big chance for the owners to show their intent. Perhaps if we had pulled off the stops to make the signings we wanted, we might have stayed up. There is no room for 'ifs' next season. **thumbup |
