Not unless they get a better one damn quick. He was our only scout, seems a bit daft unless we're already in talks with a replacement |

On the contrary if you look all the first picks he delivered (Dembele, Nzobgia, Pav etc) WOULD have improved us the problem was we didn't sign any of those so we had to get loan signings from further down the list which then promptly either didn't pay off (because they were backups) or picked up a bad injury |

You don't have to be a scout to come up with Dembele, Pav and N'Zogbia! Where were the up-and-coming players from the lower leagues that other teams managed to scout and grab under our noses? We only need to get rid of Peter Grant and we can make a new start. McLeish would have no excuses next season! |

Neither did one or two others. I don't see them losing their jobs. Poor team selection and negative tactics sent us down. So how it is that the scout carries the can I'll never know. |

Paul Montgomery brought in Scott Dann, Roger Johnson, tried bringing in Gary Hooper (Yeung thought he was not a big enough name). He brought in Martins who basically won the Carling Cup. The guy had no money for transfers and Yeung wanted big names. He also had Dembele, Nzogbia, Pavlyunchenko, Zamora, Landon Donovan. This is a very dumb move and McLeish wont be happy about this. |

I understand the reasoning but have we... a. got a good replacement already lined up...or...b. already drawn up an extensive shopping list. We don't want the usual last minute panics at 5 minutes to deadline. We want to have our buying done by the end of June. Some of the selling can wait until January. I hope we have had a really good look at the Championship and Div 1 for the up and coming talent. We should forget about rushing round South America. |

It is a warning to McLeish to improve. Not the right idea, he brought us in some good players. We need a scout now who can trawl the English leagues and elsewhere for good young cheap talent. |

Yes, you probably should say more if you're trying to prove a point. Keith Fahey played an important part in Blues being promoted, and he's trusted by the manager, so that doesn't quite really help your argument. Robin Shroot was a no risk signing, and Vignal suffered an injury which prevented him from making a real impact. Vignal was also on trial and AMc (knowing him from their time together at Rangers) decided to give him a one year deal (not Montgomery). Some players didn't work out of course, which happens at every club, everywhere, but when you continually have to settle for your third or fourth option the likelihood of having a few of them fail increases a bit. A few he tried to bring to Blues... Babel, Dembele, N'Zogbia, Pavlyuchenko, Miccoli, Camoranesi, and a few others that aren't coming to me at the moment, as it's difficult to remember all the players Blues have missed out on in the past. A few he helped bring to Blues... Dann, R. Johnson, Carr, Foster, Hart, Davies, Jiranek, Zigic, Beausejour, etc. Wanted by Chelsea in Decemeber, but not good enough for Birmingham City in May... :LMAO: BLUES’ star spotter Paul Montgomery has admitted to being ‘flattered’ by a Chelsea job link. But the club’s chief scout said he had no intention of deserting Alex McLeish at St Andrew’s. “It’s flattering that a club like Chelsea seems to have noticed my work,” said the 57-year-old Geordie. “However, I came to do a job at Birmingham with a manager I respect and like as a person – and I would like to finish what I have only just started. “We are looking to build up a recruitment network here that will improve things for Birmingham. “A lot of hard work has already gone in, and there is plenty still to be done.” http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-s...97319-27846084/ *EDIT* Yeah, it's a massive loss. |

Not happy about this at all. Montgomery worked wonders with the poor scouting network left by the previous owners, he shouldn't be held responsible for relegation. I suspect this is a warning shot across the bows for McLeish, but this isn't going to help anyone. |

STAGE TELL HIM TO SELL PLAYERS WITH NO REPLACEMENTS |

One guy to blame for the players not performing this season - McLeish. Montgomery has done nothing wrong. He's a scapegoat. Take a bow, board, you've fecked up. |
