Worth bearing in mind that court cases of this type are notoriously long-winded and slow-moving; could be many months before a full trial and conclusion are reached, and - while not optimistic - it's not inconceivable that the case may not reach court. If a deal is done, and it is eventually treated as an unpaid tax matter, it is also conceivable that it could be settled out of court.

But these are only possibilities until we know much more about the seriousness of the allegations. So the buying and selling of players meantime ought to be permissable.

As to libellous comment: the danger arises when people begin to speculate on the basis of the limited facts available. You have to begin by assuming that an accused person WILL be defending the charges and protesting his innocence.

It's early days and Yeung has not yet entered a plea one way or the other. That signifies nothing other than the process of Hong Kong law working its way forward.

So any comment which draws on the limited facts to suggest guilt or in any way damage the character of the accused is at risk of libel.

Also be careful of assuming that because all of this is happening in the jurisdiction of Hong Kong we can spout any prejudicial stuff we like.

As a former British colony, Hong Kong uses a judicial system very similar to ours and it would be dangerous to imagine that the long arm of their law won't reach Birmingham.

In my view, the news is cause for serious concern but not grounds for writing off BCFC just yet.

:LMAO: Am I odd to find this situation slightly amusing? Or should I be squawking around like a neurotic headless chicken muttering 'blue square', etc. There's nothing we can do about it except turn up to games and buy the shirts. :kro:

One or two comments here seem to be drawing parallels with cases which took place in England. Would it be churlish to point out that the legal system in Hong Kong, despite previously being a British colony, may be completely different to English law?

My Worry is that as an ex cop Peter Pannu may well find himself in a position whereby he does not want to be connected with Yeung and leaves the club.

If this were to be the case then we really would be a rudderless ship in a storm

Okay, this is mildly concerning.

The Hong Kong Police have video evidence of Carson's shady dealings...

It just gets better and better. It's pretty obvious now isn't it..... AM saw this coming. Anything involving an ex Hong Kong copper was always gonna be trouble. We need this bunch of jokers out now. As others have said, I didn't trust 'em either. A man in a fur coat and an ex copper? C'mon, we've been mugged. I'd rather have Jasper Carrott and Jeff Lynne in charge....what say you good people?

Is it possible that BIH could get the remaining shareholders to get a vote of No Confidence and oust Yeung. Yes he'd still own shares but the board could install a new chairman and we can start distancing ourselves in case these charges are true.

Hi

Just to clarify people, OP originally broke the news at 16:45 BST.

If you check NewsNow, OP was about an hour before SSN - before anyone else broke the story.

The story linked on this thread was my second (of three now) posts on the subject.

Thanks
