Roger Johnson: club hero. Fair play to him if he finds himself elsewhere this season.

Yes, he did play the second half at Wembly on one leg, what ever else people think about him, his attitude that day was terrific.

I got a feeling this bloke has hit his peak, cant see many PREM clubs battling out to sign him?

His worry is "HE COULD GO HERO TO ZERO" regarding his career :silence:

Bids and rumours for RJ seem to have dried up, Do think the asking price is putting a lot off, as they all rate Dann as the class act in the partnership.

Would not be surprised if RJ is still here come the Derby game, and if there is no dramatic and panic rush at the end of the transfer window by some clubs like Bolton and Fulham, can see him here till January, and if he is wanting a move then he will need to be playing at the top of his game to try and win himself a move in January.

As many have said from the time Dann was injured, it really showed who was the class act, or is it a case of the 2 of them need to be toegether, as would Dann have struggled if RJ had become the injured one.
A Morcambe and Wise syndrome, they are a partnership............

And new boss Andre Villas-Boas will now be asked whether or not he wants to make a move to take the 28-year-old to south-west London as back-up to John Terry and David Luiz.

Back up for Terry? So he's wanted to warm their bench?

His agent must have a friend at The Mirror who owes him a favour. Johnson is not good enough for a top 6 team IMO. Personally I think we have already seen the best of him the season before last.

It's hard to argue with that, Zeus.

There's no doubt that he had a superb first season with us - but he had Dann alongside him. When Dann got crocked, he looked weaker and exposed - he even made a couple of mistakes that directly cost us goals IIRC.

His partners, with the exception of Jiranek, didn't help either. Davies made some awful clangers and Ridgewell looked shaky (as he always does in the centre, he's now a fully fledged left-back IMHO). Jiranek was the strong and commanding centre half who rarely put a foot wrong in the second half of the season.

For £7m, I'd be a little disappointed, especially he's 28 and so just coming into his prime age as a central defender and would still have a good 5 years left in the game.

I'd like us to push for £8m and, perhaps, a sell-on clause.

Dann is the one I'd like to keep!!

Strong rumours that he is having a medical at Wolves today, initial fee of £4.5m. :(

Just had a text off a mate, who was spot on with the Burke and Caldwell deals days before they were reported, to say that Johnson is off to Wolves for £4.5M.

Sounds cheap to me, and it has been reported that we have been offered more, but he was right on the previous deals.

If this is the case the money situation at the club must be more desperate than we thought. I just hope he wrong about the price on this one.

Thought we got him for £4 million.

IMO it the 4.5 million is correct then its a scadel, especially after reports that wolves offered £6 mill only a while back and were rejected

Well reason I think it was £4 million was due to us getting RJ and Dann for a combined £8 million, and heard both cost £4 million.

Could be wrong........won't be the first time or last ;)

From the Express & Star, sounds like it will be more than £4.5m - maybe that is just the initial fee before add ons.

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolver...-roger-johnson/

Wolves are closing in on Roger Johnson after opening talks with the £7million-rated Birmingham defender.

The 28-year-old was understood to be meeting club officials in Wolverhampton after the clubs agreed a fee for what would be a club-record equalling transfer.

Johnson has been Wolves’ No 1 target ever since the Express & Star first revealed their interest on May 23, the day after they clinched Premier League survival.

Wolves have acted quickly in resuming their hunt for Johnson after missing out last week on Matt Mills, who joined Leicester for an initial fee of £4.5million.

Blues had been demanding £9million for the former Cardiff and Wycombe centre-back, but it’s believed they have reached a compromise after coming down on their initial demands of £10million.
