The 28-year-old was understood to be meeting club officials in Wolverhampton after the clubs agreed a fee for what would be a club-record equalling transfer.

Wolves record transfer fee paid is £6.5m which they paid for Kevin Doyle and the same for Stephen Fletcher.

I can't believe he is leaving us to go to Wolves. I know they are a premiership club and we're not. But if true this really smacks of "I'm prepared to play anywhere so long as it is in the Premiership". Well I hope we swap places at the end of the season

Good riddance to him, he had zero desire to be here and saw himself as head and shoulders above his teammates. He put in several poor performances in the 2nd half of the season. £7m is a nice bit of business. We'll wave to him on our way back up when the Dingles go down.

Gutted we're selling these players for such a low price. Gardner and Johnson sold for £13m combined?? Ridiculous. Its a shame the club has been so poorly handled, financially. If we weren't so desperate for money we could have told the players you won't be sold unless a crazy bid comes in, and we'd have looked less desperate to potential suitors.

I just hope we get a million or two of it to spend, rather than relying solely on bosmans, youngsters, and fringe players that no one wanted.

TBF I don't think he'll have much choice although don't be surprised if (a) he can't agree personal terms and (B) someone else gazumps Spurs.

I don't think he'll want to swap a top Championship side + Europe for another season long relegation battle!

This I think is what irks me more than his destination (though this proves what a mercenary bunch todays players are). Whenever we have tried to sign anyone we clubs have held out for inflated prices. Yet so far we have sold two of our prized assets for such low fees compared to what everyone else seems to buy/sell players for. Surely a sign of how desperate we are to sell. But remember it's not a fire sale..

With you there Zeus, its not a fire sale it's a raging inferno!

Would have expected at least 25% more on RJ and CG fees, makes me wonder what SD an CJ going to leave for. We look weak to any premier clubs. How much would we want if still in prem?

The board need to address this situation quick and get Pannu back here to explain, maybe firesale has a different meaning in cantonese! "no"

Will respect him for his on the field performances for us but his attitude off the field in the last few months has been poor. No player is bigger than the club and it is better for us if he moves on as it is obvious that he is not committed to the club. 7million for him is a good price, could have been higher if it was not for his decline in form in the latter part of the season.

Have you not read the rest of this topic?

We have accepted a bid of around £7M from Wolves, and It looks like he's off there.

£7M for an average Premier League centre half Is good business If you ask me. Wolves better get out there and spend £8M/£10M on another good centre half to play alongside him otherwise this Is £7M down the drain for them.

He's a scrapper is Rog- can't play football but is always ready to throw his body in the way of the ball and I think we should thank for his sterling service over the last two years and wish him well in his impending battle against relegation.

perhaps we could buy him back next year for £3.5 million

12mth rolling contracts for all...no point in anything longer

I don't think he'll want to swap a top Championship side + Europe for another season long relegation battle!

Just like everyone other than Gardner, his wages dropped the moment we were relegated.

And the Europa League means nothing to these players compared to playing in the Premier League week in, week out.

He'll be missed IMHO! He'd be a better player in the Championship simply due to other teams playing hoofball. 7miil is a good financial deal, as long as he's replaced!

i agree

I keep saying this

The lure of European football means nothing at the minute

The players are not stupid , they can see our European tour is likely to be very short

Not defending him BUT i do not think the fact we will get to play 2 games in Europe will sway anyone to stay or come here TBH

7 million !!! Ffs, I thought we were playing hardball and there was no fire sale going on ???...
I don't particularly like Johnson as a person but there is no disputing the fact he is a well respected premiership center half.... And for that reason the board should be saying 10 million.... no less or you can do one !
You watch, Dann will be off next for 8 million and meanwhile up the road at Bolton they will ask for 18 million for Cahill !

No fire sale my bottom !!!!!

Oh well, never mind, we'll concentrate on signing freebies, loans, no hopers and unheard of Scottish league players instead...
