Won't have a word said against this guy. Plenty capitulated after the Cup Final but Roger didn't. He probably didn't play his best football (he was knackered and having injections I seem to recall) but more than did his bit for the cause.
£7m is the least we should get for him IMO.

Wont have a bad word said  Have a wander around different threads and forums to find out what this guy thinks of our club and you won't be so defensive.

Tender flowers aside, it's the talking his feet does that interests me, and he has been an excellent player for Birmingham.

Christ, this is looking like it could be the worst transfer window ever. Yes I agree we need to make some cuts but isn't that why we let bowyer and philips and allthe loanees go?

With the parachute payment surely this means we can afford to keep the players for a year and gamble until (if) we get back into the prem th first time of trying.

If we lose Dann & Johnson & Ferguson & Jerome & Foster & Zigic on top of Gardner Bowyer, Philips as well as the 9999999 loans we had last year, we are going to have a very very weak squad...

I think selling these players and replacing them with some very substandard players won't get us back to the prem at all.

We have Europe this year which will help make up some deficit on prem revenue.

We need to keep hold of the players, need to.

I understand a few players want to leave - naturally some want to stay in the prem, but I also think, if players are contracted to us, then alot should stay.

Fahey is going to be our only midfielder at this rate (sarcasm) but seriously, I am genuinely worried.

I hope CH is getting the backing he needs and is ot forced to make too many decisions he doesn't want to.

I've got to take exception with those who say Dann made him look good. It was the Dann/Johnson centre-back partnership that formed the basis of our success, both of them playing out of their skins, week in week out, TOGETHER. Losing either one of them would have severely weakened us at the back, it just happened to be Dann who fell on this occasion.

Six months ago if we had polled the Blues fans about who they felt was our best defender I'm sure the majority would have said Roger Johnson. But since we struggled after Dann got injured we've now decided in hindsight that it must have been him who carried the team. But the fact is they were both crucial and either would have struggled without the other.

Johnson remains one of our prized assets and at 28 he is by no means old in centre back terms. Frankly £7million is a joke and if we are going to start accepting those sorts of offers I would interpret that as a clear sign that the fire-sale has officially begun.

Reading the financial reports coming out of the Far East it appears that, at present, we need the cash coming in simply to get through the next few months. A player, like anything else, is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. The old cliche "beggars can't be choosers" is relevant - at the moment we are the beggars, whether we like it or not..

Proves he is not a man of ambition just money orientated if he wants to go to a club like Wolves. With the greatest respect to them they will be in a relegation fight yet again especially with Mick McCarthy in charge. Would have thought that he could have at least given it a few months until the January transfer window opens before jumping ship with an opportunity to sigh for a more established premiership club.

Having said that he has been a great player in the brief time he has been at St Andrews and had played some brilliant games with some serious injuries at times. I do feel that the loss of Scott Dann away at West Ham had left Roger exposed at the back therefore perhaps he isn’t the future England player we all thought. With his unprofessional comments in a bar at Wembley “That’s if I’m still here” (apparently) maybe the writing was on the wall.

Still were Birmingham City and the club is much bigger than any player so we move on.

I don't understand it.

How do we need the money? What have we spent money on?

a few seasons ago we were one of the only teams in the prem with no debt.

Now we need money?

We have not signed anyone really since Suly & Gold left. At least no one big (Zigic pun). but it literally is a few plays.

Foster, Zigic, Gardner... anyone else?

well, we have made the money back off Gardner and more.

we have got rid of Hleb, Bentley, Martins who were all on big money inc bowyer & Philips whose wages were qhite big too.

So why do we still need money?

Rumour had it that Zigic was likely to go back to spain for 6 mil... fine, that is literally all the transfer fees covered.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

is it just a case of us not being able to afford the players wages? we have a small squad though!!??

last two season we've been the third highest net spenders in the prem.

Also, the last administration left the club in a worse position than we all thought. Some good accounting going on, and some poor due diligence.

Very true Big Joe was a legend.

I went to a dinner a while ago at St Andrews and Joe gave a fantastic talk and mentioned his move to Wolves and said he was gutted as allthe Blues fans were. He was told one day by the manager (I imagine it would have been Jim Smith, correct me if I am worong) to get your suit on as your going to Wolves.

Heroes come and go, that's a sad fact in this age of football. Players that stay at one club for a very long time (Giggs, Scholes, Le Tissier, Steve Bull) are very rare. Johnson was a favourite and had a defending style that endeared him to the fans, but that's all over now. Who will be the next Blues hero? Beausejour? Dann? Redmond? Burke? Look to the future.

Numerous transfer requests... So much for his wife saying on twitter "he loves the club"

Just like Gardner, no loyalty to the club and wants to jump ship.

Bye Roger, enjoy your relegation battle again. Don't let the door hit you on the backside on the way out.

Add to that a massive wage bill for a club with our income and we have been spending money we do not have which has resulted in a £30M debt. Even before Carson was arrested we needed to reduce our debt and wage bill. With the chance of any cash from Carson gone the club has got to pay off its debt and pay for itself.

By the end of the summer anybody worth money, or on big money, will be sold and replaced by freebies. I really think this season will be a season of consolidation as we try to steady the ship.

On a good note if the sales clear the debts it will allow use the parachute payments over the following 2 seasons to rebuild.

I suppose we should accept that that's the way footballers are - the only constant thing is us fans.
