This is something that has gone from being a small thought in the back of my mind to something that I cannot understand why it has not been done.

Fans are down, players are leaving, we're being betrayed left right and centre, and what we want is for players to come out and show some character, commit themselves to the cause. Show some commitment and desire for this club.

Now surely, for shall we say the 'lesser favourites' such as Fahey, Murphy etc, this is the perfect opportunity to boost their relationship with the fans.

If Fahey came out tomorrow and said, 'I don't care who comes and goes, I want to be here for the club and do what I can for the fans of Birmingham, I'm committed and can't wait to get stuck into the new season' he would shoot from scapegoat to most likely fans favourite. Surely they're missing a trick???

Nice idea but most players can't see past their wallet.

And how many fans would find solace in Fahey assuring us that he intends to stay? 6? 10, maybe? (Incidentally I could count myself as one of that number because I think the guy could be a decent player if played in the right position.)

Agreed, but surely for them it would make sense?

Totally agree, Chris. This is a perfect opportunity to become a fan's favourite for one or two of the players on the periphery.

Then again, I suppose most of them have only just got back off holiday. Maybe we'll see a bit more from them once they're back in training tomorrow?

I was going to say the same thing Will - most have been away on holiday for a month. I'm sure we will hear a lot more from the players this week now they are all back in Birmingham.

Correct, they are back in Training tomorrow (Monday) so I would expect to hear a few players comments over the next week.
As no doubt reporters will be queing up to get comments off them about the sistuation at the club and their futures

I don't think any journalist will waste time with a story like that when there is so much else going at the club at the moment which more people will want to read about...

Unfortunately I think the thing we will be hearing is "so long and thanks for all the fish"

From the Bluenoses I know Fahey assuring us that he is commited to staying at the club would be the final push towards manic depression.

Having said that maybe a new manager will bring something out of him that we haven't seen, although no one is going to change the fact Murphy is a terrible defender.

In the cup final, when he was moved into centre midfield , I thought Fahey looked a good player. Like a lot of others, he has suffered for getting the " short straw" position of left midfield. The time is long overdue for us to find a natural leftie to fill this position.

Fahey is well regarded in the Irish setup, and if given his right position we may see a decent player especially in the Championship.
If he is the he will be given the time and backing by myself to prove himself, like any player

Beausejour? He will be up and down our left wing next season allowing Fahey to play CM and then we will see the player we saw last time in championship who ended up being a fan favourite rather then the scapegoat of the premiership

I mentioned this on here a few weeks back, and also used Fahey as a prime example.

When I mentioned it, I said he should commit himself to us, and then also say how he's 'looking forward to getting a chance in his natural central midfield position'... its a statement of commitment for the fans, and also a little dig at Judas whilst doing it.

I'm not that fussed about fahey coming out and pledging for the cause he's not attracting interest and prob knows he's staying, I wanted to hear it from one or two of the big boys who are attracting interest.
But thats asking too much of a modern day player i suppose no loyalty just money.
like the no brainer gardner he's never blue he's yellow.

But what ever team we have i'll be shouting for chris and the blue revolution
Cooome on Can't wait!!!

Shows how much some people know about football constantly slating fahey. Just because he never got 10 goals like Gardner sone people think he is rubbish.

He is actually a technically better player and does a job unnoticed. He is good on the ball fit a good engine and can make a pass unlike others in the team. He gets played out of position and that's why he finds it hard

I agree with that. When played in the centre, he's always played well in my book! Especially for Ireland.

It's not his fault he was constantly shoved out on the left wing. That just isn't his position at all!

After Gardener I'll never beleive a player again when he tells me " hes always been a Blues fan" "he loves playing for the club" "I wear the shirt with pride".
Lost all faith I'm afraid.
Only thing you can rely on at a Club are that fans.

Great interview with Gardner in the Mercury, made it clear that club told him he waws being sold because no relegation clause in his contract. Said he was happy to stop but realised club wasnt!

Regarding Fahey tremendous player in the championship I would have thought.

what idiot wrote up the contract for gardner with no relegation clause in it? this was only 18 months ago. who ever it was should be shot (p45'd). mind you if he really wanted to stay at the club couldn't he sit down and sort out his contract rather than leave. i.e reduce his wage now, with a clause written in saying he would be on more than he was on perviously upon return to the PL. he might blame the contract but they must of been away around this.
