OK, in the short term we are spoiled for choice but whose really the biggest rat of all time? Him (or her) thats came to BCFC, took the £, or made promises, and then ran out on the club as soon as it gets tough or as soon as someone else waves the bigger wad at them? Personally I have a very bad memory so Gardner and McLies are there but please vote and in a couple of weeks time ill wade through the replies and announce the winner of king rat. Ex players and managers and owners are all in the trophy race. Do vote! Name and shame guys = the rats should know what and who they are. |

I think it has to go to McLeish, he has to be the biggest rat of the last 20 years with Savage a close second and Gardner a close third. There haven't really been any others in that time frame as far as I can remember... |

Been a few in my time as a Bluenose I remember Vince Overson saying he would remain at the club as he loved being captian and was honoured to do so, within the week he had left to join up with Lou Macari, also taking Nigel Gleghorn and Simon Strurrige. Of course you have to mention Robbie Savage and the way he left, after signing a new contract, and then wanting to be closer to his family in Wrexham, so choose Blackburn!! Tony Hateley, Totally ratted on the club, hated the bloke from then on There are more but these 3 are ones I always felt left a sour taste |

Without question it is McScrotum: from his reported conversation with Tatts regarding the Villa job he knew that he would cause so much ill feeling and yet he still went ahead and took his forty pieces of silver. |

Vince Overson was probably mine. As much as I moan about Gardner, he had a negative impact on the side as well. Lou was the worst though, I still think we could have gone places with him, but then that time at the club was a totally different time with the Kumars running the show. |

If you're using the criteria "left for more money after getting us relegated" then you could add any (or all) of the following: Heskey Pennant Dunn Melchiot Upson Kapo |

I think you need to understand the difference between wanting to leave the club, and being sold by the club. |

1. McJudas - won the cup should have been a hero, instead never welcome 2. Blue badge kisseer - won the cup and could have skippered us to promotion, not welcome in Birmingham 3. Savage - played with so much heart and passion, should have been a cult hero, left for money and played the family card, not welcome in Birmingham 3a. Newell big headed ****, total .... ICWT |

Although Overson was a t%&t who ran out on us to join Stoke with Lou Macari, he didn't take Gleghorn and Sturridge with him. At least not straight away. They both played a part in Terry Cooper's first season, and helped get us promoted. Gleghorn in particular scored over 20 goals that season. Although he did leave before Christmas the following season to go to Stoke and sturridge left after that. |

And what about Lou Macari himself??!! In charge for only 18 games at the beginning of 1991, including a Leyland Daf win at Wembley, he walked out on Blues to join Stoke citing the club's "lack of ambition" as his reason. Replaced by Terry Cooper who took us up the next season! |

Yes agreed, but it was him who talked them into joining him at Stoke. Overson was full of himself, thought he was the best thing in football, even the Stoke fans hated his attitude |

Surprised Sully, Gold and Brady haven't got a mention especially after the antics of the 2007/08 season and the final day v Blackburn and all that Mcleish has to be biggest Rat of all time Overson, Macari, Gardner and Savage all run him a close second BR......Why do have Kenny Burns in your caption ?? .......Burnsie is true BCFC legend .....he never once wanted to leave the club ar ask for a move .....our cheapskate board of the time sold him to Clougie and Forest for a measely offer of 140K when much worse players were going for 500K That has been the story of the Blues for decades......sell your best players just as the going was getting good Burnsie is a Blues folklore hero .....especially that day (salute) in front of The Holte End in 1976 and two hat tricks over the next two months one which won him a sports car :applause: :applause: |

Seems on responses made thus far its between Alex Mcleish Newall Savage I guess ive got to go for Alex Mcleish although given that Savage was (and could) have become such an icon (something beyond Alex Mcleish as soon as relegation came about) then him turning away was partiulary bad. I guess had he gone anywhere else but Vile then Alex Mcleish would just have been one of many rats but going there must make him King Rat. Any more suggestions? |
