Chud & Barnett Eureka!! what you guys said is so true! I dont want to pish on anyones chips but these years in the prem have been brilliant! Big crowds great opponents memorable matches. Everyone harks back to the `bad ol days` in the 80s as the time real fans supported the club. Well let me tell you like it was...it was rubbish! empty grounds getting thrashed not beat thrashed by minnows havin rubbish players in our team. I still see Ian Atkins down there, he cost us about four goals one night at Mansfield season we finished bout 10th in Div 3. Yes we all endured it and I`m sure it made us all hardy & loyal but the thought of going back there is not one I want to contemplate. KRO |

:D I think what can be said of those days , is that the fans were the real hard core Kids today do not know they are born , i went to school the day after we lost at home in the cup to Altrincham and took the abuse :LMAO: The spectre of the Championship does not worry me or even lower - i have done my time !! I just find all the "it will be great , dont worry etc etc" just crazy IF we start well and play great football and challenge then i am sure it will be enjoyable We dont have to look too far back (TF era) to know that hanging around in the Championship is not really all that !! |

Yeah Boring is going to Bournemouth on a Tuesday night playing for a draw and losing. Not trying to stop Chelsea scoring 4 against you by playing one up front. |

actually both could be boring... Boring implies feelings of listlessness and discontent What is monotonous bores because of lack of variety |

curly I bet i could recount twenty crtackers under Bruce and a dozen under Alex. Not Bad when you are playing some of the best teams on the planet. Actually I dont get bored at football matches, I like everything about them. But getting humiliated by lower league teams is soul destroying. KRO |

Any business this club needs to do will, of course, be done and that's just the normal transactions that happen in a pre-season period and it certainly won't bother me." Hughton added: "I am not thinking 'what have I done here?' No, absolutely not. "I've come to a magnificent club and it will be a tremendous challenge this season and it is one I am looking forward to. "When I came here, I knew exactly what the position was, I knew the consequences of being relegated last season. The words of CH...an admirable outlook all things considered If we cant back this man after the behaviour of the last ars7hole ..........come on lads lets get behind the club.I take Barnetts point that not everything is rosy, but if the manager has belief in himself we must do the same at least |

I agree mate , I will back any manager Blues have ! I like CH a lot - he may not have been my first choice But i like his honesty I just hope he has the tools provided to do a good job here My objection is too the - ye ha all is going to be wonderful now - free flowing football etc etc all the players we lose are **** anyway , and the ones we will buy are better We do not know - we have to wait and see One thing i know with Blues - it will never be easy |

A dozen Prem matches you could call "crackers" in the 2 and a half seasons under Alex? I can think of: 3-2 win away at Spurs 2-2 at home to Arsenal 4-1 at home to Spurs 3-2 win at Wigan - sort of - second half was one of most enjoyable halves away 2-2 at Anfield I could add that Chelsea at home was a enjoyable as we won - but it was backs to the wall almost like a lower league side playing Chelsea - and the 1-1 draw with Man United, because of the fact the goal was so late. But there weren't many 'crackers' of football matches - and especially not away from home. Although I do recognise that the Championship is only ever that great when you are doing well - but if we are challenging for the top 2 places next season and playing some good football - there really is no reason it won't be more enjoyable than just trying to survive in the Prem. |

KTCB any result where we dont lose to Villa is a cracker imho plus great battling performances V Citeh home and away. When we beat Bolton at home I genuinely thought we could still finish top half but one point out of last 18 (two sendings off & two penalties conceeded didnt help) was however the nails in the coffin. A lot oof people have forgotton what it can be like to be a mid table championship team. You have to go back to 96? under Baz to remember but that can be quite uneventfull!! KRO |

Congratulations Hughton second full day at work and your chances are being slated by your own fans already. Hope you know what your in for. Only at Birmingham City can we slate the team, management and club before team have taken off their tracksuits. I hope to goodness the person who start the thread is a Viler because if he calls himself a fan then some might say God help us. Fortunately we have no need for divine inspiration because these fans can moan and grizzle all they want while we prepare for having a fantastic championship winning campaign. We need to set out to win the championship. This is the task in front of us and this is what we will do. Gardner has left us, McFadden is in the balance perhaps and others might go to if this ends up being the case so be it. We will take the moaners along with us and come what may we will compete and do out utmost to win the championship by a minimum 10 point margin. Come on Blues. :blues: |

I was happy not to lose to Villa - but wouldnt call the games "crackers". We should be aiming to beat Villa really, especially at home - its a shame we haven't put in some of the performances we did against Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool when we played Villa. And City away was a poor game really - I'll admit I was happy with the result - but leaving the ground I can't say I was buzzing like I would after a great performance or a late goal. Almost felt like a result by default because they didnt turn up. I'm only old enough to remember from the Trevor Francis era - so only old enough to remember us being the nearly club, Premier league, and then yo-yo. But I can appreciate that becoming a mid-table Championship side wouldnt be good for us, and I have said before to those who say they would be happy staying down to "rebuild" that we should be careful what we wish for - St Andrews wont be rocking if we are getting beaten by Peterborough, Watford, Coventry etc. All I am trying to say I suppose is that, challenging for the top 2 is fun especially away from home - and I find that better than going around 15 away league games in a row and not seeing us win - like when you are struggling to relegation in the Prem. I agree with your sentiment that we need to be promoted back asap though **thumbup |
