I'd be exceedingly happy if Rebekah Brooks did jail time over this, and other horrible actions that the paper engaged in under her watch.

Odious little harpy that she is.

Definitely.

And the sick consequences that there actions had in this case only go to confirm how unwelcome their interference was - in that the family thought she may have still been alive as they thought she had accessed her voice mail.

On the Joanna Yeates' landlord point - that is another example of the astonishing smear campaigns that papers seem to defend as acceptable without any evidence.

It doesnt cease to amaze me how badly they get away with defaming the characters of people accused of a crime - and in some cases not even charged!

Remember this country operates by Innocence until proven guilty . Digging up dirt on people who are not found guilty of crimes is just unrelated slander - and the fact that it may jepordise the case when someone is in fact guilty goes to show, again, how unwelcome their interference is - and how it helps nobody.

Oh, apart from themselves flogging their 'stories' as news < <

Lol not sure what you are asking?

If you mean do I think he has the right to be considered innocent at this present moment then I'd say yes.

Amazing how the media seem to operate a "oh well they're probably guilty anyway" policy.

I can't remember the exact number, but I believe it is around a third of defendents who are found not-guilty at a Crown court trial - which is a pretty high number.

Thats also a reason why I think that the accused in rape cases should be granted anonymity - the slander which the innocent are expected to put up with is terrible.

Why cant papers simply wait until someone has been convicted of a crime before they print their name and photo.

Last night I would of said it was unlikely a 'boycott campaign' would work, but the fact that this has gained so much disdain from so many quarters since, makes me hopeful.

Ford UK have pulled all advertising tonight with them and the likes of Tesco and Virgin media are considering the same. :applause:

Maybe an email to Virgin and Tesco from as many as possible will help...?

Definitely about time this paper was shut down, as has been said - it's an awful rag posing as a tabloid newspaper. The journalism is the worst I've ever read in England, the stories are rarely factual and they do things like this.

I hope all concerned get sent down for as long as possible and the paper folds (ha, see what I did there?...)

I'd echo that.

I love the 'nuffin to do with me guv'nor' attitude. Aren't you supposed to check out your sources before printing - so errr, to stop people just giving you anything? What an out and out liar.

The most depressing thing for me out of all of this (as well as the obvious cases) is how it's all made out we've got this so-called democracy, when it's just an illusion, because the major political parties are dancing to Murdoch's tune. It's that monster that runs this country indirectly and invisibly. They're all to scared of him.

They're all suck-up, b_m-licking, buddies together, Cameron, Brooks, Coulson... it goes on...

Public opinion didn't seem that outraged, when one by one, when it was found out that big names, politicians, celebs, actors, whatever you want to call them, but even if you have no particular fondness for any of those people, I found it disturbing in principle, that they didn't seem to particularly care, and just fobbed out excuses and lip service. Now it's come down to a murdered girl, they can't do that, because any little bit of PR remaining (if they have got any left) will be completely gone.

I live in hope that s-cummy so-c alled 'news' group goes under and the so-called people with it, go inside. Sadly, I don't think that will happen because of too many people in high places, as already mentioned.

TOTAL ****!

The thing about Brooks that she was either complicit, or she was incompetent.

Either way, it wouldn't surprise me to see Murdoch drop her like a hot potato now.

The best way to register your disgust is simply not to buy any of Murdoch's filth.

If only that we're possible... :crying:

He has his fingers in many pies!

He owns the Times and the Sunday Times, but even they are vocal in their disgust of the NOTW.

Personally, it's just that rag that has deservedly been caught out and I hope its the beginning of the end for them.

Worlds most powerful man?

Looks like his trying to push one out in that picture??

I think the most worrying part of all this as I was listening to a discussion about it on Radio 2 yesterday is they said, there were worse things to come out yet!!!!

So deleting voicemail on her mobile so her parents still believe she might be alive is not the worst thing they have got up to!!

Disgraceful :ph43r:

Looks like we (the public) have won!

Rupert Murdoch has just announced that the last ever edition of NOTW will be this Sunday.

Thank ****, let the rag die.
