Is it a sign of the times when the website takes time and (lots of) space to announce that 2 young "stars" have sigmed pro?
In the past this would merit a couple of lines if anything.Sadly i think that this is the way it wil be for this season along with freebies and loanees.
Before i get any comments i am 45 years a Bluenose and not from witton just a REALIST!

:LMAO:

I tend to agree with you mate, the signs are that players being bought in are going to be loans and freebies

As i have said before if CH can get us competitive this season it will be a massive achievement

But he will have my full support as always :blues:

I thought it was a decent article and I enjoy hearing about the younger players coming through. Sounds like they could be decent prospects.

The 11 men in blue shirts will always have my support but like many I am gutted at the way the club has fallen since Wembley.
As a matter of interest can anyone think of a decent youngster who has come through the ranks?
Darren Carter scored that pen then faded.
AJ swopped for Morrison! played for England had big money moves.
Who else

I hope these 2 prove to be the future along with others then maybe relegation and money troubles will give us a Golden generation.

I disagree that it's a sign of the times and attributing that with being a negative.

As I recall we have for a few years now featured the lads signing pro and the press will do likewise as it creates a good paper trail for them. I also think it's a good sign that lads have made it through to being a first year professional, it doesn't mean that they are now considered 1st team players or indeed to be placed in the squad. It's simply about keeping the talent at the club and to see how they develop with the senior squad and possibly on loan at other clubs.

With regards to our transfer dealings, the summer is still very young.

Cheer up mate.

A sign of the times? I actually hope so. There are good young players out there and if CH helps the club, fans and local media realise this then I for one am all for it. I hope a few break into our side and really make an impact this season.

Agreed.

I think the last time we had any sort of youth break through was in the 3rd division under Cooper.

Ashley, Frain, Bird, Peer, Yates and Studger.

It would be great for Hubbins, Sammons etc to get games this year and become real players and squad members for when we go back up.

So two talented youngsters that have come through our youth ranks and have signed professional contracts, and this is somehow a bad thing?

From what I've seen, Ntambwe is a Fabrice Muamba style player, who actually has a modicum of ability when it comes to playing the ball! I think he could make the grade.

Haven't seen much of Packwood to be honest, but versatility is always a good string in your bow.

We've got some good talent in our youth team - the most promising ones have been given professional deals already (Redmond, Mutch, Asante, Butland, Kerr, Öztürk), but I reckon the likes of Omar Bogle, Jakub Hronec, Eddy Gnahore, Emmitt Delfouneso and Ashley Sammons will all get squad numbers at some point during the season.

another two players who hopefully will get some first team experince this season, why go out and buy when you can invest in youth and i'm not saying they are the finished article but blood them in the odd game build them up and in 12 months we could have a few decent players on are books for nothing.

This is a bit of a nothing thread isn't it? We sign up half a dozen of the kids on pro contracts every year!

A sign of (bad) times would be if we weren't signing the kids up...

Same here, hope we can start to bring our youngster through and give them the time, as in the long run these will save our club millions.

To me it is Blues future. Get fed up signing old duds who have no commitment for my beloved club. I wish all our young players all the best for the future whatever it brings for them. I said before I can see CH blooding some of our talented youngsters and we will need them this season with Europe and the amount of games Blues will have to play. K.R.O

We now need to get back into a reserve league, they don't progress by playing a few friendlies a year.

Cost cutting in the wrong place.

I would rather we sell Gardner and put the money into the youth team than short term high priced replacements. Its about time we brought some through.

I like how you got the funny accents in there. Do you have a Turkish keyboard or did you just copy and paste?

Man Utd and Barcelona contested the Champions League final, and both have outstanding youth systems. It's brilliant when someone comes up through the youth system, so let's embrace it.

We have always announced youth players who have signed...good luck to them :blues:

and so we should, part of a players development must be to show them that they are appreciated and welcomed, what better way to do it?

I also welcome the new way we seem to be doing our business, players identified, contracts agreed and then announced, no weeks of speculation (will he sign, won't he sign - fee agreed, not agreed, hitch hitch hitch...)

I know we're moving on a different level this season but a whole new proffesional approach seems to have been adopted. Well done to whoever is behind it.
