Have you been? If so, what did you think? Did you go to see any particular artists or acts? What was Edinburgh like? Was it packed to the extent it was a total pain? Would love to go, money prevailing. |

Terrific city and the Fringe is entirely superb. You get solo acts in an upstairs room above a cafe.(50p) Short plays in a church (£1) It is almost 24/7, the biggest wory is missing some rising act that you didn't bother going to see, then hear that they won the Perrier (now the Edinburg Comedy Award). Stephen Fry and the Cambridge Footlights won the first, through Frank Skinner, Lee Evans, Steve Coogan, Rich Hall and so on. If you go, tell us who you think will go on to make it. Enjoy yourself mate **thumbup |

GO GO GO! BUT you're going to need to book a guest house/hotel/etc. in the next week at most if you're hoping to stay over up there. They sell out FAST. Me and the fiancee try to get to the Fringe every year, it's bloody amazing. The atmosphere in the city is fantastic, the acts are cheap and very varied, comedy nights in local pubs and clubs are in abundance and the plays are superb. You won't regret going! |

go go go , we lived there for 8 years and it was amazing. if you go over a weekend look to see when fringe sunday is on. they use flat bed lorries as a stage in hollyrood park, and loads of acts do a 10 minute stint from their show, its all free, and the idea is you suss out which shows you want to go and see. we saw lenny henry do part of his show it was amazing. the streets are full of people watching acts like fire eaters, jugglers and all sorts. its the best show on earth. |

I went a few years ago and it was awesome, although we had booked so many shows that as soon as one had finished, we had to literally get to the other place as fast as possible. But the shows we saw were (mostly) fantastic, and the whole experience is great. |

Unfortunately not going to be able to go this year, the same old same old, not having a enough money, especially to book a room in advance etc. Went there last weekend, and as you said Kaje, the bus driver said the same thing - book now. But thanks for the posts, and it's definately made my mind up to go next year, so if any Bluenoses are up for joing up for a couple of :lager: in the very appealing bars up there, that would be cool. Definitely go next year, mate. The schedules (or at least the dates the event itself is on) are usually made available 6 months (ish) in advance if not a little more. As soon as they're out, pick a week and book book book! You can actually get reasonable prices at Guest Houses a short walk (20 mins?) from the main hub of the action and there are equally reasonable prices on self-contained apartments (you have to buy your food though, but you get the full privacy/make as much noise etc. as you like!). |

I'd love to go. I'm sure it's better than normal weekends in Edinburgh, with gangs of stag & hen nights roaming the streets. Taxi's are plentiful in Edinburgh too. I like cities like that. |

I was in Edinburgh a few weeks ago for 3 nights for a family wedding. First time I've ever stayed there and I was impressed with it. It's a nice city for sure. We rented a beautiful flat 10 mins walk from Princes St (main street where shops are) and it was only £100 a night between 5 of us. I got it on a website called www.ownersdirect.com if you are interested. £60 each for 3 nights! |

Bet they bump the prices up for the Fringe tho. We stayed at a university grounds, which was really nice, by hollyrood park, and was great value for £65 (I think), especially with the help-yourself-breakfast the following morning. |
