I'm not going to be taken in buy this one.

Murdoch's a sly, slimey operator. This will look as though they've acted and put this to bed, but whilst The S_cum's still going , theyll probably try and detach themselves from it, but in effect, it's the same paper - the NOTW is the Sun On Sunday. A few weeks down the line, he'll just bring out another cr_ppy low-life rag and just call it something else.

Murdoch knows what short memories the British have and how gullible we are.

im sure we could all understand phones of dubious characters such as the mccanns being tapped, to try and nail them. But tapping the phones of murdered and killed innocent people really is beyond contempt.

Well yes. I like to think that the majority of the world's woes are due to immigrants, especially those ones that give you cancer.

i don't know whether to take this statement as an attempted wind up or as incredibly stupid.

We should all have a right to privacy, only the Police should have the right to tap up phones not a cheap newspaper.

what do you see as stupid in the part you quoted off me? The Mccanns are at the very least dubious and only credible suspects in the demise of their daughter. So what is your post about??

selling ploy.
last edition will be a collectors item and will probably sell more than ever. then will be re sold on ebay for a cool profit in about 10 years time.
give it a couple of weeks and it will be called the sunday sun, as someone else stated earlier. same building, same reporters, same rubbish.
on the other hand they have sometimes helped catch criminals who were on the run and offered huge rewards to tempt people to turn cons in when the police havent been able to find them.

The wonderful thing about living in a free society is consumers can vote with their wallets - if you don't like a newspaper, a cafe or a movie you spend your ponds elsewhere.

Others are free to disagree, buying the newspaper, coffee or movie you dislike.

Heck, some idiots supposedly buy Aston Villa Seson Tickets - madness but we don't deny them their right to choose.

Maybe the fact that tapping phones is illegal

A lawful society can't operate by allowing people or groups of people to just flout the law - even if it does occasionaly have some positive benefits.

The police are there to investigate crimes or suspected crimes - not journalists who operate to make money.

And besides, they certainly didnt have any noble intentions in anything they did. All they wanted was a big story to line their own pockets.

Did you ever hear such a load of claptrap in all your life?
"News sensation News of the World to print final edition Sunday 17th July 2011"

End of an era
The following week we will have 'The Sunday Sun' 'The sun-shine Sunday' 'Sunday World News' or some such title for the News of the World under another umbrella.

How gullible do these people think Joe Public is?

That's the depressing thing.

Also, it's The S_cum that needs to be targetted. If it isn't, my fear is, this will soon be blown over - even the staff thought that, when you could hear a secret recording played on Ch5 news. This was the staff Rebekah Brooks was laying off (still unbelievable in itself) who thought it would blow over in a week.

If the other low-life rag keeps selling, Murdoch and his cronies will have got away unscathed.

It's my understanding that they have sacked staff that are not even involved in this fiasco. WTF is all that about?
Surely there's a case for unfair dismissal here?

But aren't they supposed to have so much notice?

I still can get my head around that selfish arrogant lowlife, that's kept herself in a job but dismissed the floor staff. And for even more arrogance, she OFFERED to do the investigation - WHAT PLANET IS THIS WOMAN ON????

One theory is, she knows so much more but Murdoch is scared if she does go she might start leaking stuff out.
