But that really isn't completely true. Okay, no, nobody can be to blame for the actions of mother nature. Of course no-one is to blame when it doesn't rain, or a country is hit by blight, or tsunamis and earthquakes. But all disasters can be made less bad by the actions of man. Explosive population growth in an area that is frequently hit by famine and drought will make the famines and droughts worse. I agree with those pointing out that people tend to have more kids for security - but it is undebatable that the problem of famine and drought won't be exacerbated. I feel great sympathy for those born into such dire circumstances - and I do agree wtih helping. But addressing the population growth is also a way to help, and there has got to be some way it can be done. |
