Have moved into my property after renting it out, and discovered that my neighbour isn't the quietist of people. Not having a go, just think it's one of those things, especially as sometimes I'm on 3am starts, and he likes music which has some bass to it.

What I was wondering is would it be worth considering get soundproofing or doesn't it work? Never known anyone actually have it done, but have known plenty of people with noisey neighbours.

Would be interested to find out more.

Cheers.

Just smash a brick into his window with a note that says 'STFU or else'

Have you actually gone round and politely asked him to keep the noise down, explaining your situation with regards to work?

Unless you live on a council estate, or in an absolutely abysmal area, then I can't see him being unreasonable. If you do live on a council estate, or in a really abysmal area, then work harder and move! ;)

LOL It's an alright area and the bloke's a skilled worker, so it's not nothing like Chatsworth.

But yeah, may have to go round a have the dreaded word (God I hate doin that) if I'm working the 3am shift. But also curious as to how effective sound-proofing would be as never known anyone have it put in.

Unless he's a total banker then he will understand, 90% of the time I found it was that the person was simply ignorant to the fact they were making that much noise and disrupting other people/other peoples sleep.

Have a quiet word and then if it continues, take a brick and smash it into his windows/face

There's very little post-build work that can be done to sound insulate your walls. Even to improve it slightly would be costly and hardly worth the bother.

As you've just moved into the property, could it be that your previous tenant was a bit noisy and the neighbour has been retaliating in kind? Best to have a word with him anyway, I'm sure he'll understand your concerns.

Just put your music on, with a subtle hint of base, when you get up for your 3am shift and see how he likes it.

Good posts, cheers folks.

Have kept hold of that link, and going by some previous posts Ive read, take it you're in the building/artichect business Woodbine, so that's what advice I was looking for really. Just doing general seraches on the net's no good, as obviously the companies on there are just going to plug their products.

I don't think I'll be taking the brick option all the same Simon, but probably will have a word sometime, if it happens again duringmy 3am start. Seems an ok chap, so hopefully should be alright. If not, then will probably take up your advice T-Bone lol
