Surely we need Yeung to be removed until this is sorted out, for the good of the club.

Mike is a lovely, lovely man. Jo and I spoke to him at the player awards to thank him for his Big Flag donation. We chatted for quite a while.

According to Tom Ross on Twitter, he is staying as Vice President but stepping down from the Board. Pannu and son of Carson join the board.

Birmingham Mail story:

http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-s...97319-29071369/

MICHAEL Wiseman has stepped down from the board of Birmingham City in a major St Andrew’s shake-up. And Peter Pannu and Carson Yeung’s teenage son Ryan are to become directors.

Wiseman will be kept on as an honorary vice-president, but effectively his input will be diluted as Yeung feels there is a need for a top-level restructuring. The move ends an 83-year formal association between the Wiseman family and Blues.

The Shirley-based businessman, who became a director in 1997, said he understood why Yeung decided to implement change. Wiseman said: “As a lifelong fan I have always insisted on working on a voluntary basis and I must confess that relinquishing this duty will allow me to devote more time to my other business interests, which have become much more demanding in recent years.

“I am still very keen, however, to assist the club and want to now devote my efforts to some of the other areas of the business, such as the Academy, the community department, the Disabled Supporters Association, the Former Players’ Association and Birmingham City Ladies FC.

“I hope that now we have a Hong Kong-based board that this will be a positive factor in attracting other Far East-based businessmen to invest in the club.”

Wiseman added: “Carson and Peter both stressed that they both very much appreciated the contribution I had made during their tenure and wished to confirm that I should be given an honorary role as vice-president so that I could continue my association with the club.”

Wiseman was ‘held over’ from the previous regime after Yeung completed his £81.5 million takeover in October 2009.

He helped Yeung and Pannu’s settling-in process and advised on a variety of issues, and was also a boardroom host on matchdays. But Wiseman never held any administrative or operational power at St Andrew’s and has no shares in Blues.

The decision to elevate Yeung’s son Ryan will naturally raise eyebrows because of his age – 18. Reputedly named after Ryan Giggs, he has studied and lived in England and attended Blues’ matches intermittently. How active a role he will have in the running of Blues is unclear.

Pannu became Blues’ vice-president executive and finance when Yeung bought Blues. He takes the title acting chairman when chairman Vico Hui is out of the country, but was not a director – until now. Pannu was on the plc executive management team as vice-chairman, along with Dr Bruno Wu, a leading Chinese business and media entrepreneur. But he now joins Yeung – Blues’ president – Ryan Yeung and Hui as directors on the new-look Blues football club board.

The Wiseman clan had been a constant presence on the Blues board since 1928, when Michael’s grandfather, David, became a director. David established himself as a major figure in football and his son, Jack, followed him on to the board in 1956 and also rose to the position of chairman and served the FA and Football League.

David Gold replaced Jack as chairman in 1998 and Michael, a chartered accountant who runs a property development company and a metal packaging firm, became a director 14 years ago. When the Gold brothers, David Sullivan and Karren Brady sold out to Yeung, Michael was kept on.

Official site:

Michael Wiseman has accepted a request to step down from the Birmingham City Board.

The move is part of a restructuring of the club's Board and will allow Wiseman to devote more time to his other business interests.

However the local businessman will stay behind as honorary vice-president, thus continuing the club's long association with the Wiseman family.

Acting chairman Peter Pannu said: "We'd like to thank Mike for his efforts as a director since we arrived at the club.

"We are delighted that he is willing to maintain his link with the club as honorary vice-president and to continue with his much treasured advisory role."

I wonder if all this manouvering is being done to allow Yeung to step done but still maintain a relationship with the club through Pannu and his son.

Now as much as i, personally, don't trust Carson. I feel Pannu has done his best for the club and would welcome him having some clout at boardroom level.

Sounds to me like he has been removed so he has no input or knowledge of what is going on at the club or what is likely to happen

All I can say is roll on Yeung's trial. I do hope it does not get put-back and I do hope it is short and sweet.

No probs, and yes Lowds, the quicker end to this tiral the better for BCFC.

An 18 year old on the board is a Joke!!! It really shows that we have an owner that thinks he is bigger than the club, no one in there right mind would put an 18 yo on a board. It shows also his contempt to the other share holders... he is taking the ****... who wants to be a part of such a poorly run club. No money, soon no decent players. An owner looking at a jail term, Wiseman moved into a honery position (might as well be a tea boy on match day) we are at our lowest point in history; this just can’t get much worse.

CJ is treating our club like it’s his to destroy, the man is a liability, surely the other shareholders have to act and act fast, A Vote of no confidence is needed.

Come don’t just sit there and watch your investment go down the pan as.

The Manager and Players must be effected by whats going on Upstairs, they read the press, forums and listen to freinds and Fans, we are so in the **** its untrue

Mike Wiseman
Is in my opinion not only one of the nicest people I have ever met, but also a fanatical blues fan and someone with a really in depth financial understanding (he was a partner in a top accountency practice)
There can only be one reason why he has stepped down as a company director
and I`m certain you can alol guess what that is.
I have just read all those comments that someone posted about the details he heard on the flight back from Cork and sadly they do all seem to fit into the overall framework.
I had been told Gardner was prepared to play on for a season (at his present wage) and was told the club wanted him to leave, likewiase with Fergie.
(by the way I flew down from Glasgow the night of the Ipswich semi 2001? ninety mins from take off to my seat @ Stans...and Blackpool is nearer?:????)

Mike If your reading this, thanks for everything and Jack if your looking down! Its just the Kumars but this time it is Mark Two!!!

Like many - i have been trying hard to remain positive but its getting impossible to do so.

The Wiseman family have stayed with the blues through many many bad times before and have seen owners come and go since they had to sell themselves. Its a sad day when a club loses loyal fans of such long standing as the wiseman family and as per the official club site - wiseman was "asked to leave".

the continued lack of any kind of re-assurance from CY is severley damaging not only the whats left of the relationship between the new owners and the fans it must also be badly hurting our new managers plans to bring in players

it now seems that things are very much coming to a critical point and i expect major news to be come out in the next few days or maybe even hours. sadly its not looking good.

CY & Pannu == Please please give us some assurances!!!!

Okay...

Kept cool so far but now I am very worried about the club. If CY has any sense, he'll cut his losses and sell up. If not, it will be his pride taking BCFC down with him.

Can't believe how this dream has turned into such a nightmare!

Thanks for letting us know why it is no longer on here but tbh I can't see why it has been removed as no names were mentioned pertaining to the identity of the journalist.
