Am I alone in having 2 sorts of feelings about what's going on and thoughts about the new season?
I keep fluctuating between "Oh My God", the board's letting us down, we've got no money, any sales revenue will just go back to China to support the debt, we can only get frees (although I'm not too unhappy about those who have come in), we're a laughing stock etc etc. :(

AND, "Thank God for a new manager" who hopefully has a more expansive attractive style of play, I'm actually looking forward to the new season, I'm looking forward to seeing these new players perform, so what if others are laughing at us - stuff 'em. :kro:

On balance I have more days of the second lot of thoughts but unfortunately the first lot often come to mind.

I know it's all part of supporting the Blues (55 years and counting) but it doesn't make it any easier. :blues: :blues: :blues:

It must be our age....

But I also must admit that I'm a little concerned about your Avatar....
You have a photo of Gil Merrick and underneath it says: Peter Enckelman....

I don't think that Gil would be too happy with that even though I know it's not your fault :o

There are problems that is for sure. Im not sure how well we are going to do. It's difficult to judge at present we may lose a few more yet. It's a little cat and mouse I can understand the board nor divulging too much. They want to ensure that hey arent push overs in negotiations with other clubs.

I think we need to do our best to get behind the club and hopefully we will reap the rewards. We do have capable players. If some hit a bit of form and we get a good attitude we could do well this season.

At the end of the day it is up to all of us board, management, staff, players and fans.

Come on Blues.

As a fellow grey hair (52 years of support) I share Greydogs sentiments - but my lack of technological expertise means I cannot advise on how to correct the Gil/Enkelman cock up!

Frankly, CY took a punt and overpaid for the club - and then poor management saw us relegated when we should not have been. Now with a £30m drop in income we have to cut our costs to remain financially viable.

In my view, this doesn't mean we throw in the towel. Nothing wrong with bringing in Bosman's and loans if the calibre is there. I'd like us to retain a defence of Foster, Carr, Dann, Caldwell/Davies, Ridgewell and use that as a foundation for the rest of the team but suspect Dann may leave.

I see King and Burke as a strengthening on last season (though I may be alone in that).

A boss of mine once told me there was no such thing as a problem - only an opportunity. I prefer that approach to life.

And I believe we have a good young manager/coach to help us build again.

:blues: I must admit I feel the limbo thing aswell. I have read the factual information about our financial position which tells me nothing then I read some of the off the scale speculation and panic statements that are put on this forum which if I was a manic depressive I would have committed suicide by now.

I read the Transfer forum threads and realise nobody is going or coming at the moment

Then I read whats on the Blues web site and watch the Blues player updates from which I get the sense it is pretty much footy as usual with a few restraints.

So all in all things are just hanging as are my thoughts of what the hell is going on.

I sometimes are a manic depressive but you quickly learn the only way out is to not think about things outside your control. What is in my control is whether I want to support bcfc and the answer to that is yes come what may.

We have a decent team, a decent ground and a decent support base. If I wanted a great team, a great ground and a great support base it is in my control to support another team. I have decided not to do that for the last 47 years and don't expect me to change in the future. (By great I mean team player value at well over £100m, ground capacity over 50000 with decent seats and leg room, and a support base which means I can buy my clubs kit when I'm on holiday in another country)

So no change really and the next season is less than 4 weeks away. Bring it on.

I thought it was just me who can't get their head round things. I put down to that us supports have to much time to think about the club pre season . Bring on the new season then i can stop thinking and start dreaming again.

I just want the season to start as well - although I do think we'll all be saying that we had much the better end of the bargain by the end of the season (as we're passing the vile on the way up or waiting patiently for them as they drop - either way I'll be happy). It's refreshing just to have an air of optimism around the place again (even if it is sometimes short-lived) & I honestly prefer the championship with an expectation of winning over the premiership with a hope of not losing. So what if we sell players - at least we're not being mugged & getting a decent amount for them. We have (at the moment at least) the nucleus of a very strong team, with a good mix of youth & experience & a manager who seems to be doing the right things & conducting himself in the right way, a bulldog of an acting chairman who cares about the club to the point where he wouldn't seem out of place sat next to me in The Tilton & a strong base of loyal fans who will be there every week regardless of who we are playing. PLUS we have that (albeit tiny) carrot of European football to look forward to (fingers crossed).
So why wouldn't we be optimistic & apprehensive at the same time? It's all the fun of the game isn't it?

Completely agree greydog, I'm having my ups and then I'll have my downs, but I'm looking forward to a fresh start. I'm 43 so have had my fair share of troubles since I started going down St Andrews around 1977. Seen many relegations and promotions but this relegation really hit hard as we were pretty much safe. I've seen it a lost worse than this though so I'm not particularly worried. Lived through the Wheldon era, the "BLUE REVOLUTION" banners (and the walk outs), the riots, the 6000 crowds, I've seen the lot. I think the younger generation are panicking because they've had it pretty good the last 10 years or so.

Me, my Dad and my son have all renewed our STs, can't wait for his new shirt to arrive (hopefully before the start of the season!!!).

KRO brother.
Keep the faith.

eewe!!!

Not a pretty site I'm sure!! 6 months on Pussers Grub then have to look at "Migsters Log"

But - back to Greydog's original point:

I am actaully only have the "New manager" feelings.

I have no doubt that we will survive the financial problems (if we actually have any).

I could live with Non-league if we had to, but not with the type of managers that we had for the 2 before our latest one!

Good, exciting football is what we should be about. Once we have that, the fans will come back and the players will follow.
To be fair to Brucey, when we first went up, he did try to entertain (Dugarry and all), but he certainly lost the plot after a while. Unfortunately, McJudas never even knew how to spell plot, let alone find and use the flamin' thing"
