Worst Case Scenario; Team come first game

Starting eleven:

Doyle

Carr © Davies Caldwell Murphy

Burke Gomis Mutch Fahey

King Rooney

Subs:
Butland
Redmond
Asante
Valles
Ozturk
Kerr
+3 - 5 loans / signings

I've been reading all of the doom and gloom posts for weeks now - it's getting annoying.

Here is my take on the worst case scenario:

In the team above we still have a tried and tested championship goalkeeper who, for me, is still a very solid choice. We have a very experienced central defensive pair with good quality players in Carr and Murphy either side of them. We have one of the best wingers in the league in Burke, a man who can run at people, beat them, and deliver a good ball. We have Mutch in the middle who performed really well for Watford last term and even chipped in with a few goals. We have Gomis who, although maybe an unknown quantity, may well turn out to be the engine of the team. We have Fahey who is more than capable at this level and we have 2 strikers who I think will get us goals - especially King.

I'm working under the assumption that Zigic, Dann, Michel, Foster, Beausajour and Ridgewell may well all leave.

I would expecting a minimum of £30M for all of those players and if thats whats needed then so be it!

Ok the squad isnt going to win us the league, well not unless we get about 5 good quality championship players in, but to be honest - I dont care! I know that Hughton will have us playing better football and things might be a little more exciting. I can't wait for the new season to start and even the worst case scenario pointed out above won't stop me from getting hold of my season ticket.

Obviously we will need more bodies in if we do loose those 6 players and I'm aware of that - I do really hope that Dann, Ridge and Foster stay though, but....

Chin up lads and lasses!

Lets KRO!!!

Being realistic that squad over a season will be very lucky to keep us in this division, Hughton is not a miracle worker. We need to bring in at least 5 players, they might all have to be loans . I'm still looking forward to the season with hopefully more attacking play than we've seen over the last few years. :kro:

I wouldn't be worried about relegation with that squad + 3 - 5 loans / signings. I'm hoping for the play offs!

although i hate the doom and gloom posters as well, and don't buy into all the **** in the papers recently. i don't believe you were the most equipped to quiet the doubters. with carr also now reported to be out, king is injured (rumored for a while & needs surgery) and the average age on your prospective bench is about 17 1/2..

caldwell & davies don't seem like a pair that can last 40+lg games, and 3 cup runs. and with virtually a U20 bench, think a season with that squad would not bode well..
however the recent stories in the papers have been half-assed, non-researched, half-witted attempts to stir up media. i think we will end up keeping foster, carr, jerome, and dann (until liverpool comes in with a real offer) and we will bring in a few more signings and we'll be fine. until then, let's stop all the speculation and wait for the season to start and the window to shut.

I did mention that we would need about 5 players, should all of those guys leave, and I am just going to completely ignore the dross about Carr.

This doesn't get me down at all. I support bcfc through thick and thin. We do need a squad which is large enough to compete. In my view that's 11 players, 7 subs and 5 not on the bench/injured.

So in my view we need a squad of 23 players. We have that and if anyone else leaves I am sure we will bring in others of sufficient quality to allow us to compete.

I am waiting to see who comes and goes and am sure we will have a team which will be more exciting than last year.

i agree. i realize it was your worst case scenario squad, and luckily don't think it will get near that bad. i too share your disgust for the recent lazy journalism, apocalyptic posters, but still cannot wait for the season!

cheers

Any "worst case scenario" where one of the best young talents I've seen in ages is on the bench waiting to come on is okay by me.

What a jump in the average age of our team. Drops from 33 to 20 years old, give or take. I am looking forward to a great season with these young kids, all out there with something to prove. They will have the desire and the fire in their bellies.

Whatever happens, happens. At the end of the days who ever is out on the field playing for my club will get my full support. K.R.O
