We need to remember that players like michel are rusty in an attacking sense and certainly not use to playing so far forward for blues. I believe with more games and a little more confidence and he could chip in with 8 goals easily from midfield. Infact the 3 that started in the centre today are all capable of getting a few imo. |

Definitely, I'm just thinking only having one senior striker fit isn't exactly encouraging. |

But we tried various permutations in a 4-5-1 system. Which we will have to play at sometime or other. Why are people upset because we don't win a friendly? Not you mate, but the other shower on the 'Live commentary' and a couple on here who think spotting typo's covers up for their ignorance. From the commentary it seemed that (bar a couple of counter-attacks) Hereford were concentrating on their defensive organisation for the new season. Whereas we were looking at permutations of a 4-5-1. With King, Jerome, Zigic all out injured, this was the ideal match to see if we could play a lone frontman. And who with. Good intel now for Hughton and Trollope. Redmond has got the message - very much part of Chris' plans. There was really no need to bring him on at all, the guy must be shattered sooner or later considering his non-stop summer. Bojangles back next week **thumbup |

What would have happened if Doyle had been stretchered off first minute today? (To the match and the season?) < < |

Give it a couple of weeks and we will only have 9 players to field in a 4-2-2 :ph43r: |

Caldwell would have gone in goal, or even Curtis. Sam Beasant would have been called up whilst Butland is in South America. **thumbup |

Well another good runout for the lads, results mean nothing in truth in these games, just for players to get used to each other and new formations and tactics and of course fitness. Time to worry about results is from when we play Derby. As we see again today in results wise Liverpool losing 3-0 to Hull, and Stoke losing to Aldershot 1-0 |

Was a good run out for the lads, shame about the scoreline, but it's not like we didn't try, Michel could have had a hat-trick with a bit more luck. Was interesting seeing Michel playing so forward, struggled with it at first, but got into the role as the game went on, it helped when Gomis came on for Fahey in the 2nd half, it allowed Mutch to support and swap with Michel. Gomis is VERY comfortable with the ball, picked out Mutch with a great 20 yard pass to the wing with the outside of his foot. Doyle didn't have much to do apart from a few shots over his bar, Dann looked composed as ever, Caudwell was ok, was a bit worried about him being beaten for pace by Facey the once, Davies was ok 2nd half, almost got himself into trouble a couple of times though. Carr was Carr, Ridgewell got booked for something innocuous, he was ok, but we deffo missed him when he went off and Murphy moved back to LB, Hereford got more joy down the wing then. Burke worked hard down the wing, ably supported by Carr, linked up well with midfield and gave options, likes to take on a man, but sometimes does a little to much. Rooney worked his butt off, didn't have many chances, but was always in the right positions for deliveries, as was Michel surprisingly. Asante scared them a bit with a couple of runs, one led to a lay off to Burke who shot just wide, you can still see his rawness though. Redmond not on long to do much, but delivered one great ball into the box that Michel should have hit the target with near the end of the game. Even though it was 0-0, I actually enjoyed the game, which I haven't done for some time. |

wow sounds like he has real quality & confidence; real pleased with everything I am hearing about this gomis. Got an eye for a pass by all accounts and sounds like a good addition to the squad. |

was at the game and here is my run down on the team: burke, mutch. michel, ridgewell, rooney and redmond all stood out for me although i do think the major reason we didn't score was michel. he played brilliant but was not effective as an attacking threat. carr, dann, caldwell, fahey, gomis and asante did not stand out but were solid throughout. murphy while not a stand out player for me was being played out of position. |
