The vast majority of Palace fans loved Gardner. A lot of them refer to him as one of their best players last season.

He is definitely good quality at this level, only 29 (til next week!) and so has a few years in him, has been good enough to win an England call up - and would still make a decent squad player for a Premier League club.

Hope he joins.

Would also welcome Turner - and if we sell Dan and Jerome in the next few days - I hope we can afford him and a striker.

Maybe we'll just sell Dann and buy Ben Turner?

He wants a two year deal, we've only offered him a one year.

He wants a two year contract and we only want to offer him a one year contract so that is why the deal is moving so slow. Hopefully the deal is completed soon enough, however if the deal is not completed soon I think we should just end the talks.

Bit unfair... hes not been complaining about his wages at all, just wants a 2 year contract as apposed to a one year so hes not seen as a promotion gaining assest and thats it, were not sure because of his injury record, but then he played most of last season so who knows if hes clear of it now

Cant see a problem with a 2 year contract imo

So he wants 2 years in stead of 1. thats fine i am sure there will be some club somewhere daft enough to offer him what he wants.

We cannot be held to ransom like this by players who realisticly should not be anywhere near our club.

Are you in conflict with players selected and trialled by Chris Hughton then Willie ?

Well the get on the phone to Carson and get him to give Hughton some money. We can only get what we can afford and unless Hughton gets some money to play with these are the types of players we will get. I know it sucks but what can we do. KRO!!!!

well... I don't want him to join, or i'm not excited at last. Could be a good cover but would be the worst of them that we have got in, in this transfer window. :break: :silence: :copno:

I am in conflict with players who are never satisfied.

Gardner imo has the option sign the 1 year contract and take that time to prove he is worth the extra year.if he is confident in his own ability that should not be a problem for him.

If he just wants a 2 year contract or nothing then imo it should be nothing.

This is the player that went to Hull for £2.5m and played 32 games in 3 years
if he was as good as some say why did Hull let him go ? if Hull cannot afford his wages
why would we be able to?

imo i think the money that will be paid out in wages to the likes of him and Fagan would have been better spent on keeping Foster at the club.

What i am really annoyed, upset, angry about call it whatever you will, is the way our club has been turned into a laughing stock.

I am livid at the incompetent way this club has been run over the last couple of years, It beggars belief.

Willie i can hardly believe im going to type this but i agree with you with regard to Gardner.the Club is desperately in need of employing some astute football people in positions that matter.

Personally, i think he would be a good squad player and give us something extra at centre half. If im honest, i'd give him a one year deal, with a clause that says if he plays 15-20 games this season at least, then he gets a 1 year contract extension to make it to the 2 years. When he's fit he can be a good player. I just hope we dont cut our nose to spite our face thats all.

I'd agree with this.

Maybe 20+ games and it triggers a second year.

He played 29 games for Palace and the vast majority of their fans referred to him as one of their best players last season. They all desperately wanted him to re-sign with them.

We are shopping in bargain basements. With no money he is probably the best we can get.

not sure about this one
14 seasons in the game and he has only managed to play an average of 17.5 cup and league games per season due to injuries and not being preferred.
