Team Photo - No Cup; Not having the cup in the team photo

I don’t know how others feel about not having the cup in the team photo but I am very disappointed it wasn’t there. At the moment we don’t have a great deal to sing and dance about and a reminder of the good times we shared earlier in the year would have been a nice boost every time we look at the team photo (admittedly, that will also change as the weeks go by)

I also see it as a challenge to the new players to do as good if not better than the ones they are replacing; giving them something to aspire to

I agree. They should redo it WITH the cup and now WITH the new sponsor.

Do it right.

BLUES players posed proudly for their annual team photo ahead of the new season.

But fans noticed a glaring omission in the snap – the Carling Cup. It was the first trophy of note the club had won since 1963.

Manager Alex McLeish has since left the club to take over at Villa following the 2-1 victory against Arsenal in February and many of the winning team moved on after last season’s relegation.

But thousands of fans have stayed loyal and feared the club had forgotten the glory.

But a Birmingham City spokesman told the Mail: “It was a very tough decision to decide whether to have the trophy as part of the photocall or not.

“The Carling Cup is, and always has been, a treasured item at the club since that day in February.

“In fact just this week, it has been given a new home with pride of place in a new trophy cabinet in the Kop reception. However, with a new manager and an evolving squad, it was deemed not appropriate to have the trophy in the photocall,” he added.

get the cup in the picture for gods sake..
and this seasons calendar should just have a picture of the cup and the fans on each month...No players

Use the cup in as much promotional imagery as possible

The cup was won by Birmingham City Fc! Not the ex players alnd managers!

The name Birmingham City Is engraved on It not Individuals names.

If It's not appropriate to have It In the squad photo because most the players and backroom staff have left they lets give It back to whoever owns It then! My lord what a ridiculous comment!

This Is ludacris that our only major trophy In God knows how long Is not In our squad photo.

im sorri but who ever made that call needs to concisder his/or her position.

its crazy to leave it out.

what are they expecting us to win it this year or next year..with this crop of players..???

re-duo the photo shoot its embrassing that you want to hide the cup...

infact you should set the cup infront of the new crop and let them use it as inspireation for the coming season... not be ashamed of haveing it there because you feel others won it...

i agree with the statement above its birmingham city name on the cup...these new players play for birmingham city...

p.s. what about the players who are still here from last year..?? carr for one.

what a complete load of B******S

The club have failed miserably to market the club winning the cup, and does anyone else think its been nicked and melted down as I havent seen it since February?

I hate to tell the club this but it was the CLUB that won the cup, it will be down on the list of honours won forever, and the players will be largely forgotten in years to come. In fact I am trying to forget all about some of them now, especially those that supposedly support us

Asked about this on Twitter the other day and got this response :

"With a new manager, new players, new era, it would be inappropriate to include. Of course, CC achievement will never be forgotten"

Inappropriate!? Like any of the new players or manager would suddenly stand up and go "Im not having a photo took with that here!"

Its motivational, its our trophy until late February, won by Birmingham City Football Club, not by Alex McLeish, not by Foster, Johnson, Jiranek, Larsson, Ferguson, Gardner, Bowyer, Martins alone... but by Birmingham City Football Club... and it should never be "INAPPROPRIATE" to put in whilst we have it.

sorry but the cup was won by those players, who else won it?

Those players that played that day won the cup, simple as that, they scored the goals, they won the cup.

What is the substance behind saying 'Birmingham city won the cup, not the players' ? There is no substance whatsoever.

How can a club win the cup? is physically impossible, players won it who played that day, simple as that, the club didn't score the goals, Zigic and Martins did.

Yes the name of the club is engraved on the trophy, but the players won it.

Could you imagine the response from the Man City fans if they had a new manager and the FA Cup silverware was not paraded on the club photo or Man United with the League Cup in their photo etc? I think you get my drift and where I am coming from with this.

I feel it is such a lame excuse from the board and somewhat embarrassing for the fans. We are a proud club with a proud set of supporters and the emotion showed at Wembley when we raised that cup in the air (yes, I mean we, all that were there on that momentous day) was electric and never to be forgotten.

WE ARE ALL THE CLUB NOT JUST THE PLAYERS AND MANGEMENT – RETAKE THE PHOTO WITH THE CUP AND BE AS PROUD AS I AM TO BE A PART OF BCFC

The club paid all those players and the manager, and they did their job. Without that cash they would not have done it, so it was Birmingham City Football Club who won the cup.

Like in business, if your employees win some new business then it's not the employee who reaps the reward it's the company.

what i'm saying is that it was the players who physically won the cup, not the club.

If we had no players, we would have no cup, the club paying their wages doesnt come in to it.

The club as a whole didn't win the cup, Koscielny & Szczesny mix up and martins won us the cup, also the zigic goal.

The club didn't put the ball in the new, Martins did, it was the players.
