The cup was won by Birmingham City Fc! Not the ex players alnd managers!

The name Birmingham City Is engraved on It not Individuals names.

If It's not appropriate to have It In the squad photo because most the players and backroom staff have left they lets give It back to whoever owns It then! My lord what a ridiculous comment!

This Is ludacris that our only major trophy In God knows how long Is not In our squad photo.

another commercial opportunity missed ffs

Missing commercial opportunities is our speciality. Yet another cock-up.

The club was right not to include the cup in the photo, we need to forget about the cup and move on.

You are starting to sound like villa fans going on about past achievments, yes we won the cup but we need to forget about it, move on and look to the future, it's annoying when people gloss over relegation by saying we won the cup, we need to face the position we are in and completely forget about the cup.

Asked about this on Twitter the other day and got this response :

"With a new manager, new players, new era, it would be inappropriate to include. Of course, CC achievement will never be forgotten"

Inappropriate!? Like any of the new players or manager would suddenly stand up and go "Im not having a photo took with that here!"

Its motivational, its our trophy until late February, won by Birmingham City Football Club, not by Alex McLeish, not by Foster, Johnson, Jiranek, Larsson, Ferguson, Gardner, Bowyer, Martins alone... but by Birmingham City Football Club... and it should never be "INAPPROPRIATE" to put in whilst we have it.

sorry but the cup was won by those players, who else won it?

Those players that played that day won the cup, simple as that, they scored the goals, they won the cup.

What is the substance behind saying 'Birmingham city won the cup, not the players' ? There is no substance whatsoever.

How can a club win the cup? is physically impossible, players won it who played that day, simple as that, the club didn't score the goals, Zigic and Martins did.

Yes the name of the club is engraved on the trophy, but the players won it.

The club paid all those players and the manager, and they did their job. Without that cash they would not have done it, so it was Birmingham City Football Club who won the cup.

Like in business, if your employees win some new business then it's not the employee who reaps the reward it's the company.

what i'm saying is that it was the players who physically won the cup, not the club.

If we had no players, we would have no cup, the club paying their wages doesnt come in to it.

The club as a whole didn't win the cup, Koscielny & Szczesny mix up and martins won us the cup, also the zigic goal.

The club didn't put the ball in the new, Martins did, it was the players.

The club sources Martins and paid his wages, along with the rest of them.

It's Birmingham City as an entity that allowed that to happen. We had players because we paid them.

It's like if in my job I go and sell £1m worth of business - will I get that? No - business does because they're the ones who employed me to do that for them. And yeah I'd be doing that physically, but for the business and the £1m is for the business.

Employees can win businesses awards, but it's the business that receives that accolade - exactly like the Carling Cup. The clubs 'employees' moved on, but the club still holds the cup because it was awarded to Birmingham City.

The players got their own individual awards in winners medals but that cup does not belong to them.

Never to be forgotten
just the individuals that will be forgotten

to include it in a photo whilst not the holders now that would be grasping at past glory..

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING! :banghead: :banghead:

We should forgat all about winning the cup and move on?? NO

I've followed the Blues for 40+ years and my dad before me. 1975 he'd booked a hotel in London before Maine road, Fulham, last minute etc etc.

27.02.2011 - The greatest and proudest day in my life as a Blues supporter - I certainly WILL NOT forget it and doubt many of us who were there ever will.

FFS - not many posts make me really mad but you managed it with this :copno:

If we keep going back to something that has happened in our past to comfort us then we will never go forward as a club.

Nero fiddling while Rome burns comes to mind, our club is in very hard times but some people gloss it over by saying 'we won the cup' and can't face up to the harsh reality.

You don't get it do you?!?

"If we keep going back..." - but this is all we've got to go back to in 136 years. To say forget it is an insult to all those generations who have lived and died without seeing us win anything.

GRRRR .... "no"

I think that is going over the top, it is only a picture after all. Furthermore it is with almost completely different players and managing squad to the ones that won it.

I was fuming when I first found out – now I think the numpties in charge probably just forgot.

Fudging disgrace mind you, just another slap in the face to take away from what was a great day out.

I personally waited 23 years as an attending supporter for that day and now it feels years ago.

Such a shame.

Did I say that? No. Stop trying to put words into my mouth. I personally don't see the point in having the Carling Cup in this seasons team photo, it was last seasons team and management that won it and we have pictures with them at Wembley with it, there are enough memories there.

Jakee - my ire has nothing to do with the team photo - it's with the statement that was made that we should "forget about winning the cup". In fact the word "forget" was used three times in the original post.
Considering we won it less than 6 months ago in a club history that has seen nothing in 136 years, to say "forget about it and move on" is an insult to me and I'm sure to many others.
As for the photo - I really don't care - I've got my photos I took at Wembley, I've got my photo of me holding the cup and I've got my memories.

I think it should be in the photo.
We won it, our club, as a team all together.
No individual.
But if you are thinking that way.
Then who do you say won the cup?
foster for great saves? the coaches fo training the team like that? philips for keeping us in the earlier round by taking it to penalties? taylor for saving the penalty? beausejour for his goal? the fans?

There was no individual thing, they played for birmingham city, they were birmingham players, so it should be in the photo
