One major positive from yesterdays game is the amount of times we got shots in and tested derby's keeper. Lookng at the stats 8 on target, 12 off target in an away match in our first league game, i think as the season goes on and the more CH gets to spend with the players, and when we have more forwards available we will score goals! sunderland the year they got promoted lost there first 5 games and still went on to win the league so lets keep the the faith! CH has had basically 4 games so far with the team trying to find the best 11 and to go away from home on the first day of the season and attack like we did is positive news! i for one is certainly excited this season after watching yesterdays game! yes it was a defeat but it wasnt deserved and on another day we could of easily come away winning that 3/4-0 |

The amount of counter attacks and passing in their half was brilliant too. Chrissy Hughtons Blue Army! |

I agree that is a problem and i suppose thats what AM was good at was bringing the best out of the defence! i know alot of people will shoot me down for this but i think on a attacking point of view playing murphy at left back would be a better option! He is probs one of the best crossers of the ball we have but then he gets caught out at the back! i think a back four of carr - davis - ridgewell - murphy should be on paper one of the best back fours in the division. that on the asumption dann leaves which hopefully he doesnt! as for the keeper i just think he needs to be given time which as a keeper is hard to come by... Im a keeper myself and iv played saturday football at semi pro level and iv been in the position where i hadnt been playing due to an injury and then when i finally got picked i was shakey and made a few miss judgements and errors leading to goals but then after a few games u build confidence, a few good saves and its all comes back to you......similar to a forward and any player, u could be low on confidence and make mistakes but as i outfield player u have others to cover and help you out and as a forward u get more than one chance to rectify it. Same with doyle they are both good keepers just both need confidence and game time! |

I think you are all discounting Caldwell, I think he is Hughtons no1 choice at CB. They are all still getting to work with each other , there was a lot of positives from yesterday, I was behind the goal and blamed the keeper for the 2nd at the time , but with the deflection you can't blame him for either goal, give them all a chance we will do OK this year with a possible play off push, when was the last time you watched our keeper looking for a short pass from the goal kick , or a 19 year old midfielder so confident on the ball??? I think the last time we played that type of football Jim Smith was the boss. Keep the faith. In Chris we trust |

Caldwell was better than Davies for me yesterday, I think he will be our new star CB. Davies looked shaky in the air to me. |

Excellent post jonesy **thumbup Ridge has turned into a good left back for us but right now he is probably dealing with all that is happening in his private life - that plus the situation at Blues must be a nightmare for him - wherever he looks there is no stability :( But Ridge is our best left back and is prone to errors as a central defender. Depends on where you consider the errors would have their least detrimental effect - Murphy being caught out or Ridge in central defence. The beauty of Ridge at left back is that we have three central defenders for dead ball situations and that is a bonus plus we have a reasonable choice of central defenders - it's just that CH has barely had time to blow his nose but will eventually know who and where are his best options! Goalkeeper - WBA fans are not keen on Myhill and neither is Woy otherwise he wouldn't have shipped him out to us and gone looking for a back up to Foster. However - it took 10 games for Joe Hart to come up to speed and look at him now.... Foster on the other hand hit the ground running for us.... I always felt and still do that Doyle should have been our first choice :) |

Got to agree about Doyle being first choice, I remember being impressed with Myhill when he was at Hull but if Doyle was given enough games to get up2 speed I think he would be just as good |

We had a spell in the first half that was really exciting Attacking with pace and power Few Negatives FAHEY feel sorry for the lad IF he is going to play it must be in the centre NO REDMOND at any stage ? Thought we looked what we are ... A team low on experience in crucial areas of the pitch....Central midfield and up front When Derby got on top we had no one who could put his foot on the ball and take control Always though talk of going up was unrealistic and now i am sure Roll on saturday BIG game for us |

I thought when Chris Woods came on we had two strikers who were very similar in style. We had no pace. We needed someone like CJ or Asante on the field. |

Fahey will not hold his place in Central Midfield against the better options od Jordan Mutch, Jean Baeusejour, Morgaro Gomis or even Johnathan Spector. He's never really earned his first team place with errors, off target shots and wayward passes. He was a favourite of McJudas who played him instead of JB on the left wing where he's usless, mainly when McFadden was injured. Chris Hughton wont wear him for long IMO! |

He looked our best passer the week before aginst EVERTON I like Gomis and Mutch but if he cannot get in front of either of them then he does not play IMO |

Fahey is quality when played centre mid; last season away at stoke he was our best player, and he was one of the best against Villa at home, which were the only 2 times he played centre mid apart from the last day against Spurs when tbh everyone was too defensive. People are just against him because theyve only ever seen him on the wing where he is **** yet McLies kept playing him there. Probably wrecked his confidence playing out of position where himself and 30k other blues fans know he isn't suited to |

:LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: Cunningham was classy. He always looked as though he had plenty of time, because he was so aware. Caldwell may be functional but I have noticed any class. |

I thought they both did ok Caldwell is very good on the ball and can pass, something Johnson can't do, give the blokes some time, its only one game < < |

forgot about that one! although to be fair he played in a very depleted team, and first half he was excellent before he fell away second half when baggies switched to a 5 man mid |
