Hey guys.

I've only been watching football for like 10 years. In fact my first game I ever watched was the play off final. Anyway on to the topic. I was speaking to a mate who said it was the Blues fans that come up with the "Who are ya" chant. My other mate who supports Man City says we didn't. So does anyone know where this chant started. I know this is really random but it got me interested. KRO!!!!

I wouldnt believe a word a Man City fan says about originality..

They're the same lot who stole the Poznan for no reason other than because they played Lech Poznan and liked it...

This is the very same thing that came to my mind upon reading that Papaulski's Man Citeh mate said it wasn't us...

"What the ******* hell is that?" from Citeh supporters when Poznan we're doing THEIR goal celebration, and then it's "let's all do the Poznan" from Citeh supporters not long after, and still continuing on to this very day. < <

To the original question, I don't know which club's supporters came up with the "who are ya" chant, sorry.

I think the title of the clip says it all.

Definitely the first to shout "Who" after the subs are announced - although, I think the "Who are ya?" was already around, so that may be what he is referring to.#

WHO? !

Don't matter, we are a something club in the midlands

This coming season when "Norwich" or "Man Utd" do
- "Lets all Do The Wenger"

Those fans will get credit.

Though
-thinking about it, Man Utd fans aren't picked up on Camera are they? And Norwich don't have the experience of Wenger mannerisms ...

So, when we see "Lets all do the Wenger"...it could be from Man City or Sunderland fans ...who seem to feature as much as their teams on TV.

And for Blues fans it will be another oversight.

No to bother.

I remember watching Soccer AM once and Helen Chamberlain was saying how she loves our fans humour, she made the point that we started the 'WHO' when a player comes on, and she said she loves it when we count out the yards for free kicks as the ref walks.
It must be true if a bit of totty like her says so? :blues:

Think we could be doing the 'who' chant for some of our own substitutions this season

Thats my understanding of it

The first time I rember hearing it, was the game against manchester united when Alberto Tarantini got into a lot of bother with united fans for headbutting brian Greenoff, think it wasin 1978 but might be wrong it could have been1979.

Norwich fan on youtube:

My lasting memory though is of my lil brother--who lives in cardiff--taking us to the stadium through the BC fans. Having 'Who are you?' chanted toyou by about ten thousand Birmingham fans is one of those things that tend to stick in your memory. >_<;;

Dion Dublin referred to Blues doing it in an interview in a footy mag! Think it started under TF`s reign say 99 from memory, deffo it was big style by the time we played Watford in play off second leg, according to popular Mythology one of greatest ever atmospheres at stans!

It was Bolton. I'm pretty sure it was when they were bringing on Bo Hanson.

You are correct, Bo Hanson was probably the most famous one, I got into a little bit of trouble for that, but it was generally dealt with in good humour by all concerned at the club at the time. There was another with Michael Ricketts too, there was an audio clip of it on the net somewhere, does anyone still have it by chance?

Great times back then, miss it greatly still, but time moves on.

I remember one time it didn't work when Bolton (I think) brought on someone called Michael Jackson...everyone was too busy laughing.

Within seconds there was a chant of "Michael, gissa song, Michael Michael gissa song..."
