There was a stabbing and gunshots in Birmingham last night... I'd rather stay inside with my cricket bat.  :dancer:

Dont forget the hit and run that killed three people trying to defend shops on Dudley road

Not that it matters but it was a mosk they was defending

The Sikhs were defending the Mosque during ramadan prayers.

The guys who were killed were defending shops etc

Surely you mean the Sikhs were defending the temples

No, the Sikhs took over whilst all of the Muslims were inside during their prayers.

Parti - you don't know what it's like here at the moment: shops all boarded up, police everywhere and nightly violence.

If the Zulus and Villa Youth can mobilise a bunch of blokes to stand up to the rioters then I'd be with them. B'ham is (not exaggerating) a city under siege at the moment - ghost town after 18:00 except for cops n' thugs.

I don't think they're looking for trouble, they are looking to protect the city because the Police haven't been doing a very good job of it from where I am standing.

I can tell you now that NOT why they are going. I know a few and although I may not agree with what they do as long as they only do it to other idiots that want to kick eachothers heads in then so be it. As for why they are going to town its only for the reason of defending our city. Im sick of these theifs looting with the Police sit and watch. Costing the owners their businesses. If this is what takes to stop them or help then im all for it. KRO!!!!

That's not what some of the posts on that Facebook page seem to say.

They're going looking for looters to "give them a kicking."

It is one thing to protect property. It is another to help fuel the violence.

If they want to help, they should stay the hell at home and let the police do their jobs.

Yeah, lets let them keep looting, smashing up shops, making businesses close early and even commit arson. Apparently it is costing Brum 2.5m a day with the early closing times of businesses, let alone all the ones they are smashing up.

Where did I say that? Where on earth have you developed the idea that they should be left to do what they want.

The police are on the streets. Over 600 of them.

Groups of wannabe batman's running around is only going to make their jobs harder, rather than easier.

The police have done a rubbish job from where I am standing, they have watched looters breaking into shops at times as if they were bystanders. I would much rather these groups of football fans and people to scare them off because the looters and rioters know the police are afraid to touch them or move out of their lines blocking places off. These football fans could run them out of town.

I may take that back hod, seems they are doing Ok tonight, seems to have gone quiet tonight.

This quote from earlier
Quote:

Eerie feeling, lot of tension, but no actual wrongdoing at the moment. High police presence - normal coppers not riot gear. Group of Blues fans (Zulu Army) hanging around to 'discourage' anyone thinking of causing any trouble.

This not long posted.

London kicked off first - then the other major cities - then the provinces.Things are quietening down everywhere now.
Today is Wednesday - match is on Saturday.
Cricket test match taking place quite happily just down the road at Edgbaston.
Really don't see there being a problem.

Sorry but perhaps you haven't been a football fan long enough to remember football hooliganism. Police presence at football matches is all to do with preventing this. This takes a lot of officers for the few hours surrounding a match.

I am sure that cricket matches don't need the same level of attendance so comparing the test match with a football match is not all that relevant in my view.

However I do hope the match goes ahead as football is an easily managed crowd situation compared with the current mindless criminality.

Been going to St Andrews and footie matches since 1970 mate. I remember football violence only too well.
The current rubbish that's going on has nothing to do with football though. I'm sure that by the weekend the situation in towns and cities across the country will have settled sufficiently for the footie to go ahead (with the possible exception of central London where the devastation was at its worst).
